christiaan_phleger___honol
Got the Zeiss 50 and all is good. Nice lens. Here are some samples of the bokeh. Notice the change in the railings and palm fronds.<div></div>
christiaan_phleger___honol
Next shot. Mind you this was a quick and dirty test, shot a 12 exposure snip roll of APX and speed processed it because I really really wanted to see what it looked like.<div></div>

christiaan_phleger___honol
What the shots don't really show is the tag on the shirt is not only readable, you can make out the individual stitching on it. The focus then rolls off the sharpness plane very smoothly. I'm quite impressed.
frank granovski
Have you compared this Zeiss with a 50mm F2 'cron?
al_kaplan1
I was quite impressed with the sharpness and bokeh of a 50/1.4 Zeiss Planar in Yashica/Contax SLR mount that I tried recently. Diana, when are you going to post some pix that you've shot with it?
pensacolaphoto
I have also used Zeiss lenses in Rolleiflex mount, and they are superb even with the much older Planar lenses compared to what you have, Christiaan. In fact, I like them so much that I bought a Rolleiflex SL2000F a year ago or so just to have a "modern" SLR body for the Zeiss lenses. I used to use the fragile Rolleiflex SL35 cameras. The SL2000 is also a body that can fail. Most importantly, I can use the Zeiss lenses.
pensacolaphoto
It didn't come out right, what I have posted. I meant to say that even the old Zeiss lenses are excellent. Your lens is modern and most likely is sharper and contrastier.
crackers_.
<< The SL2000 is also a body that can fail. Most importantly, I can use the Zeiss lenses.>> Absolutely. You want to integrate the finest of components when building a custom paperweight.
pensacolaphoto
Crackers: Why is the SL2000 a paperweight? It is functioning 100% and it has a new board installed by Rolleiflex in Germany. It should last another twenty years or so.
alan_wilder1
Christiaan, any chance you could enlarge a scan of a small portion of the shirt detail to maximum resolution of 511 or 800 so we can see how the Planar does with detail?
robert_meyers
What did you get with the 2000? That looks like an awesome camera.
joseph_wang3
Which Zeiss 50 are you talking about ? Zeiss 50 1.4 or 50 1.7 are made for Contax SLR. The bokeh of these lenses are not nice as the lenses are astigmatic. The bokeh looks harsh. There is also Zeiss 50 f2 with M mount, ie the ZM. This Zeiss 50 is very good, even better than Summicron 50 2 ( ref: www.imx.nl ) The bokeh of this Zeiss is outstanding that it has a very soft harmonious feel, indeed this lens is a newer generation that it does not exhibit astigmatism. joseph_wang3
Here is one shot from Zeiss 50 2 M mount. To me, the bokeh is nice and soft.
