aizan_sasayama
For some reason, this film dryer causes water spots. Would heated air from a blow dryer get rid of them? Stop using Photoflo?
helenbach
I do the final rinse in distilled or deionised water then shake the water off before putting the reels into the dryer - I don't bother with wetting agent. What are you using for your final rinse? What concentration of Photoflo? Best, Helen
aizan_sasayama
I've been doing the final wash with tap, then two drops of Photoflo per roll with distilled water. Worked fine hanging in the shower, but the moving air or something is messing things up.
ronald_moravec1
For some reason everyone want`s to save on Photo-Flow. My experience is I get spots if I don`t use the recommended amount. But do what works for you.
helenbach
I omit Photoflo when using the Kindermann dryer because it is an on-reel dryer (I don't want to dry Photoflo onto the reels), and it hasn't been necessary if the final rinse is distilled water. andrew_hull
I have always seen around here suggestions that the Kodak recommended amount of 'Flo is too much and that cutting it in half works better. I am sure that it is different for everyone around...
aizan_sasayama
I guess I'll try it both ways, without and with more Photoflo. Until the weekend, thanks!
frank.schifano
There's a little trick to using PhotoFlo. The amount you need is greatly dependent on your water supply. Hard water = more , soft water = less. You want to use just enough so that the water sheets off the film, but not so much that it foams. If you get foam, it's too much. My own recipe calls for a dilution ratio of anywhere from 1+400 to 1+500, substituting 150ml. of clear rubbing alcohol for water to make 1L of working solution. The alcohol decreases the surface tension of the water a bit more than just PhotoFlo alone and acts as a preservative so the working solution stays clear and you can reuse it if you like.
