flaviosganzerla
I was mixing my ID-11 some minutes ago and I tought something was very wrong, since I opened the box the "pack A" showed a strange color, then when I saw the powder is was purple and now the mixed ID-11 has the same color. I made some pictures to show to you. It is better to discard all the developer or there is a chance it is working? I have some very important films to be developed and am inclined to not put in this.<div></div>

john_finch
If in any doubt throw it out.... Mine is clear, i'd chuck it and get some more. You are right not to chance important negs to anything suspicious.... You cannot get them again.
chris_waller
It sounds as if Part A (which I think is mainly the developing agent, metol) has gone off. I recommend you discard it and mix a fresh batch.
keith_tapscott
The purple tint should have cleared when you added Part B. I take it that you did disolve both Part A and Part B?
flaviosganzerla
I added part A and this was the resultant color, then I added part B and the purple color only get a little lighter. I think there was some problem with part A as you see in envelope, its outside color was kind of yellow. I already throw out the developer, never had this problem before. Problem solved. Hope the next one is good.
keith_tapscott
When I used Ilford Perceptol which uses Metol as the only developing agent contained in Part A, this also turned a purple tint which cleared when Part B was added. The developer worked perfectly, it is probably the Metol in Part A of ID11 which is giving the purple tint. Check with the Ilford technical department first before discarding the developer, as it may be perfectly OK to use. I use Kodak D-76 as my regular developer and have never had a problem with it.(One-part powder).
