jim_ogul
Can you tell me a good place to send off my Canon F-1n for shutter repairs? ThanksJim
mad reilly
Not that I'm an expert on this issue but B&H Photo, I think, is a good choice. They have done really good by me.
._._z
B&H doesn't do repairs. They ship gear off to Mack. www.mackcam.com/repairs.html (Note: I'm not recommending them or recommending against them either. I used to have my FD gear cleand and serviced by the late Karl Aimo, who used to be a Canon repair tech.)
photo11
Hi, Jim, About 2 years ago, Mr. Ken Oikawa did some wonderful service on my mint Canon EF Camera, he is the guru of the Canon F series, my last contact number with him was Wk:909-246-9136 H:951-246-9136. Hope this helps. Good luck. Mike.

User_502260
Essex overhauled two F-1 bodies for me and did a nice job both times.
paul_beavin
I can second Mike's comments about Ken Oikawa. I just got back an F1 body he did and he did a great job. Fast turnaround and reasonable prices. Paul in Atlanta
1312LeNiCa
Hello Everyone, I am new to this forum, I hope I didn't miss any recent posts about the best place to repair a F1-N. I am looking to find a high-quality, reliable, repair service to fix a shutter problem in 2022. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Dustin McAmera
Someone in another thread just recommended Midwest Camera Repair in Wyandotte MI. That was for Nikon, but they say they are an authorised Canon repairer.
1312LeNiCa
Thank you!, I just reviewed the website and it appears to be a legit, honest repair site with great affiliations and accreditation. And they are located close to Minnesota.

weasel_bar
Steve Sweringen at http://www.cameraclinicusa.com/ did a great job on restoring my newly acquired Canon FTB. He works on F1, and knows canon fd cameras very well. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
1312LeNiCa
Hi Weasel_bar, Midwest Camera informed me this past week that they don't repair the more modern Canon F1 New (the model with the lithium battery holder to the left of the lens mount when looking at the camera from the front. i.e. the lens is looking at you, so to say). I will checkout your suggestion and some of the others. To all the other members, I'm still taking suggestions, thank you for your time!
Farkle-Mpls
1312LeNiCa -- Greetings also from Minnesota! (Minneapolis) ... I just had two F1s serviced by Steve Sweringen last month. Steve was mentioned above. He specializes in F1s! His price was reasonable and turn-around was about two weeks. Good luck and nice to meet another F1 shooter in Minnesota. 1312LeNiCa
Hi Carl, Thanks for your feedback. I just sent them a request for quote. I hope they are still repairing New F-1s. Let's hope for the best. I'm from the Mpls area as well. Andy
ridinhome
Does anyone have an e-mail address or phone number for Ken Oikawa? He did a CLA on my A1 many years ago and it's time to do another one.

It's rumored that he's officially retired from doing repairs/CLA work. Like to know if that is true or not. flavio_egoavil
My friend, Luka, in Slovenia, is specialized on repairing New F-1 and F-1 cameras. He is specialized and I can vouch that he does the best service one could do to the New F-1 cameras. gwhitegeog
I am an EU resident, so am not familiar with US service possibilities. All I would say is that the F1n is relatively easy to repair and work by a skilled repair shop and the parts can be cannibalized, where necessary as there are no new spares available. They were very good and always did very nice work for me including changing out the focusing screen and cleaning the prism of an EOS film camera. I'm pleasantly surprised to see they are still around. Edited April 15, 2023 by zakslm
