Street & Documentary: China

Reading a recent thread on a photographer in Hong Kong made me realise

my terrible ignorance about photographers based in Hong Kong / China.

There was a great series of shows here in New York last year at ICP,

Asia Society etc, but I failed to go through them thoroughly. If

anyone could point me to some street / documentary photographers in

China / Hong Kong, it would be truly appreciated. Below are the few

that I have seen...

While he's based San Francisco, I thought I would put a plug in for my friend Aaron Deemer who has done some amazing

documentary work in China. Until he has time to update his site I'm a hosting a couple of his latest photos

shot over the past year or so.

Gao Bo is interesting:

Much better known, but still worth looking at, is Chien-Chi Chang (if, like Beijing, you

consider Taiwan as being China......):

There's also Mark Leong (though he grew up in California):

Here is a Chinese version of "Street & Documentary" Forum on a Chinese version of photo.net. You don't need to understand the language to understand the images.

And this is a thread I pick up randomly:
