zenit_zepplin
Hello,
Could any of you people who bulk load Ilford HP5+ from 100ft rolls tell me if the emulsion is identified as such along the top rebate and how the frame numbering runs please (i.e. 1-80, 1-42 or whatever)?
Thanks. timothy_shelton
ILFORD HP5 PLUS SAFETY FILM 1-42 (90% sure on this -- just started bulk loading this myself).
zenit_zepplin
I knew it! Thanks Mr Shelton.
The reason I asked is that I recently purchased a bulk roll of what was sold to me as HP5+ by a certain company in California. B&H were out of stock when I placed the order, funny thing is that they restocked about a week later, so I should have waited, but you never know. Anyway, I though I remembered that the rebate shoud read Ilford HP5+, but I was not sure. I developed the first roll yesterday and the top rebate is clear. Perhaps those CA folks slipped me their house brand...
__stu_evans
Didn't this stuff come in a container?
gary w.
Stuff I have goes to "42A"
Also says clearly "ILFORD HP5 PLUS" and "SAFETY FILM" (with a 1.5cm space in between the words safety and film)
patrick_gainer
If the stuff you got is in a box labelled Arista 400 I have used both it and Ilford HP5+ and can see no difference in performance. You should have got it at a lower price, though, and it should not have been represented as Ilford, even if Ilford makes it.
zenit_zepplin
thanks all for the input
no, the box-in fact a square one-never seen one like that before, had but a home-made label HP5+, I think they are loading it off 1000' rolls down to 100' lengths. I did not really save that much money, a couple dollars at most, again I went for it on account of b&h being out of stock at the time and me not willing to wait.
THe numbering on my film runs to 42A as well, then an unnumbered frame, then 1 so on.
Merry Christmas!
__piotr_e_recht
Before you scream too loudly, I have seen film from newspaper sources that went a long way between identifiers.
