harvey_trautenberg1
I just acquired a very clean 150mm Sonnar T*. I was out shooting the first roll today. The lens is in my 500cm, It seems the lens focuses short of infinity fot yhe most distant subjects. Is there any reason the lens focuses short? Is this normal for the 150? Thanks HT
leicaglow
No. Some lenses focus beyond infinity to compensate for heat, but I've not seen the 150mm do this either. Are you checking against the viewfinder or actual shots? If it's a viewfinder problem, check the seating of the focusing screen. You don't have a diopter setting on a prism finder do you? Can you check it on another body? It very likely is defective, as these are not common problems with Hasselblad.
harvey_trautenberg1
It looks like the samething with my 250mm. I will check it tomorrow with a groundglass back. It a fraction of a turn of the focus ring but still weird. Thanks
russ_britt3
Sounds like the screen is out of aligment in you body. Are you using a finder or ground glass?
harvey_trautenberg1
That was with a brightscreen glass with the WL. I will try another glass as well. Thanks
ulrik
Theoretically lenses can be out of alignment. But of the many Hasselblad lenses that I have owned or still own none had a problem with infinity alignment. It is more likely that there is a problem with your screen or mirror alignment. gary_ferguson1
Every time I change screens I check for focus accuracy, and it's sobering how often it's out. If the tiniest speck of lint finds its way onto the screen seating platform then focusing will be slightly out.
q.g._de_bakker
What also doesn't help is putting a screen in upside down.<br>It's easily done, and has been reported to happen sometimes.
hasselblad technician
Harvey, You said that this focusing problem exists with both your 150mm and 250mm lenses. Do you have other lenses, as well? If so, do they focus properly at infinity? Some of the things that can cause this problem are: The ground glass is not adjusted properly, the mirror angle is out of adjustment or the legnth of the camera body could be off, due to lose screws. www.david-odess.com
harvey_trautenberg1
Thanks everyone. Upon further review I conclude I have a mirror / VF problem. The groundglass proved I have similar focus error with a 50 / 150/ 250 mm lens. The camera is off for adjustment this afternoon.
