philip_glass
The most credible rumor about Ilford states that they are discontinuing production (or outsourcing) of powdered chemicals. They reportedly will continue production of liquid developers, though these will be manufactured by Champion Chemical. The same source claims that liquid equivalents of Ilford powdered developers already exist. Does anyone know which Ilford liquid developer is equivalent to Perceptol? Thanks. rob_champagne
to my knowledge there has never been a liquid version of perceptol or anything which comes anywhere near it. If you want something very similar then Kodak Microdol-X is a good choice.
lee_shively
I have some old Ilford film information sheets from the early 1970's. They give processing information for Ilford films and chemicals and it also indicates Microdol-X is equivalent with Perceptol.
barry_wilkinson1
moersch say their EFG negative developer is the same as Perceptol. I have yet to try it though. I have been told by Retrophotographic in the UK that they will stock it. Maybe J&C in the USA will if asked. Barry
chris_waller
Champion have recently started production of that old May & Baker classic, Promicrol. This is a developer based on paraphenylenediamine, regarded as the ultimate fine-grain developing agent. Promicrol is avaiable via Silverprint of London (www.silverprint.co.uk). lex_jenkins
"The most credible rumor about Ilford states that they are discontinuing production (or outsourcing) of powdered chemicals." =============================== Actually, the most current information hints that Ilford powder developers will continue to be produced in some capacity. mike_klemmer
Barry Thornton makes an educated guess about the Perceptol formula in his book 'Edge of Darkness'. If the developer is no longer available then I will most likely be buying the chemicals and making the developer up myself.
lowell_huff1
CLAYTON CP FILM DEVELOPER IS A POWDER THAT HAS A VERY SIMILAR FORMULA TO PERCEPTOL.
phil lamerton
I was told that Edwal are now supplying powdered Perceptol. Does anybody know if this would be exactly the same formula as Ilford's Perceptol? Thanks - Phil Lamerton
