ruicardoso
Hy all, I'm quite new to film processing, I've been developing my films using a 1520 Jobo Tank and using the Jobo Cascade accessory to wash films inside the tank. The specs for the Jobo Cascade say that it reduces washing time down to 5 minutes. But I usually wash for 20+ minutes, suspecting those 5 minutes are just marketing talk... It seams to me that the film is ok with this washing time (older films do not have fixer spots...) Does anyone use this accessory with the 5 minute recomended time? How can I tell if the film is perfectly washed rigth after washing? Thanks in advance, -Rui Cardoso
edward_zimmermann
Use a highly dilute solution of Potassium Permanganate (light rosa in colour). If there is hypo left it will clear within a short bit of time. If the colour stays even after a few min. then you know that your regimine is OK. Note, however, that the wash times are variant upon the choice of film and fixer. The longer you fix, the longer you need to wash. Since Kodak T-Max films, for instance, demand longer fixing times its logical that they also demand more washing. I will tend to fill, shake and dump water filled in a tank a few times before I start to wash with the cascade. Even with T-Max, 5 min. seems more than sufficient.
