paul_owen
I am hoping for some advice! Anyone recommend a rain cover to use with a 5Dii body with battery grip and lenses no longer than the 24-105mm but also the 24mm TSEii? I was hoping to see what sort of covers people are using with the tilt-shift especially - that is if anyone uses covers with these lenses! Hoping to find a cover that allows enough room to adjust tilt and shift controls on these lenses whilst in use? Thanks
zml
T/S lenses are not weather sealed so the entire lens must be covered or you are risking some major water damage. For a rain cover to work, you need a lens with a long-ish barrel and deep lens shade (the ability to mount a filter is nice, too) so the T/S lenses don't qualify.
I personally use Hydrophobia (for long lenses) but take a look at some really inexpensive stuff like http://fotosharp.com/camera_rain_covers.html or just tape a plastic shopping bag to the lens shade: works very well in a pinch. Kata makes a good but really cumbersome rain cover for a DSLR with short lenses (E-705..?) that perhaps might be usable for your purpose.
john_macpherson
Shower caps, pick some up in the next motel you stay in. Perfect fit. Clear. Elasticated. Free. For the 'complexity' of the t/s add a rubber band and poke a hole in the shower cap, using the band to seal around the lenshood. Or use two caps.

Or stick a small clamp on the tripod leg and attach a small umbrella (clear) to keep the worst rain off. If its so windy that the brolly starts flying you'll be struggling anyway. Or go the whole hog and get the Patron umbrella from Novoflex.
ed_k__north_carolina_
Storm Jacket. I have 2, A medium and a large. I bought the medium first and it works well with my shorter lenses (28-135, 17 -40). I bought the larger one for use with my 70 -200 f2.8L IS.
These are not cheap (~$50 - $75) but you are protecting anywhere from $1500 - $6000 worth of equipment.
Ed
w_t1
I never use a camera condom, as I call them. Umbrella works for me, I've been shooting for over 30 years, never any rain damage, southeast alaska and washington state.
keith reeder
So it never gets windy when you're shooting, WT? Umbrellas are useless (and sometimes worse than useless) in a strong wind...
esfishdoc
Here is what I use:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/870845-REG/LensCoat_LCRSLM4_RainCoat_RS_Rain_Sleeve_.html
Although it is made for lenses up to around 300-400 it can also be used with regular lenses... just bunch up the excess in the middle. I was using it on a 7D with a 10-22 the other day when I went out to get storm pics during Sandy. Winds of 50 precluded the use of an umbrella.

<a title="Self Portrait by esfishdoc, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8050/8136628890_92a2b5edde.jpg" alt="Self Portrait" width="500" height="333" />
hjoseph7
This is what we used when I was shooting Marathon races http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/469774-REG/OP_TECH_USA_9001132_18_Rainsleeve_Set_of.html . Not for heavy downpours or hurricanes, but for everything else they work plus they are cheap, portable and semi-disposable.
