alberto.conde
I did subscribe (it was about time!) to Photo.Net yesterday morning, Sunday 2nd February. Pay Pal acknowledged payment at once and my credit card have been duly charged. However, as of now no sign of my new condition in the site. Is this normal? How long does it take, usually? continuity
Yes, in my experience, this is normal. It took a few days for me too. No big deal.
bobatkins
Activating a patron account is still a fully manual process. Things are sometimes slow over the weekend. I'm sure your account will be updated as soon as the email queue is (manually!) processed.
alberto.conde
Thanks, Jeremy, I was getting a bit upset because, at the same time, I am having a very slow surfing experience in the site since Saturday night and I am unable, as well, to edit one of my submitted photos with a newer and improved version. Looks that the site is getting overcrowded
alberto.conde
Thanks, Bob. This reassures me.
But, on other matters, I'm experiencing a very slow navigation. Desperately low. Like being in the Doldrums!
bobatkins
I'm seeing slightly odd response times too. It seems bimodal, i.e. 1/2 the time access is virtually instant. However the 1/2 the time pages take forever to load. It never just seems slow. It doesn't look like a slow download, it looks like the server is waiting a long time before sending any information back, then it sends it fast. I don't know if this is a problem with the server itself or with the connection to the server. I suspect it is the server, but that part of the system isn't something I mess with. I'm sure it's being looked at though. Maybe Brian or Patrick can give us an update.
abintraphoto
Check this thread Alberto .................. http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=004NgV
alberto.conde
Thanks, Ken. I'm aware of that problem. Looks that we will have to be patient with the system for now. There is also a thread on the same problem, started by Massimo Marengo recently, here: Updating old photos (II)
pmj
Maybe Brian or Patrick can give us an update.
That would have to be Brian, because as much I as like to help out, I don't do systems administration (and I too experienced delays and time-outs yesterday). alberto.conde
It works now, as you can see! 48 hours, for the record only
mmmee
Mine took much longer. A friend had subscribed at the same time and got his icon within a couple of days. Mine got missed. I e mailed (I forget what address and cannot find the old e mail) Brian and asked about it, after about a week or 2. He had some technical difficulty with his ISP and had to go back and look for all the subscriptions he has missed due to the problem. He missed finding mine altogether, until my e mail. So, well, shit happens. (Pardon my Dutch). Its not a big deal.
alberto.conde
Well. shit happens, but eventually it woeks for you and me and the rest. If this site had professional staff running it we should be forced, probably, to pay a much bigger sum.
