Jack McRitchie
When I post photos to featured pictures I expect them to be shown in the order I have posted them. Often when I check my featured photo page, the order has been scrambled. I've gone back and re-ordered the page a couple of times and then come back awhile later to find they're out of order again. I simply don't need any further irritation from this site; I have quite enough already.. Now I also find that when I click on my public profile link, I get the good ol' 404 Error page. Do we really need another "cool" gimmick like the new Global Photography Map when so many areas of this site are hard to navigate or working poorly ? There are so many bells and whistles now it's like a one-man band! And still participation continues to decline on the photography side.
Sanford
Not only that, my gallery photos are in different orders depending on whether I am viewing them on Firefox or Safari, and they keep shuffling! I'm beyond caring anymore, P/N is good enough for my purposes for now.
technicalsupport
This is working now? Everything has been re-indexed and deployed, you should have immediate results with full search for the featured photos part of your profile page.
Jack McRitchie
No, it's still not fixed. The order of featured photos in my personal portfolio does not match the order on my public portfolio page. Also that 404 error keeps occurring when I click on my public profile link. Little irritations to be sure but seemingly never ending.
Jack McRitchie
I don't know what else to do. It's still not fixed. The order of Featured Pictures in my public portfolio does not match that of my private Featured Pictures page. I just posted a new picture to Featured Pictures and on my public portfolio it's planted somewhere in the middle. Obviously this is not where I want it. I could go change the location as I've done several times before but in a day or two it will just be out of order again. Will you please address this problem or do I have to become like most other members, shake my head, become resigned to these constant irritations and say "well, that's just Photonet.....? technicalsupport
Hey Jack, it does look like you have some pretty cool featured photos, 39 total, in the following order shown here. The order was right, then not again? I'm trying to produce this bug myself if it's still existing, thanks
Jack McRitchie
Thanks for looking into this ongoing problem. If you can access my private portfolio page, Featured Photos and compare it with my public portfolio page, Featured Photos, you can see the order is very different. Why this is so, I leave to you. Also, you might check why it is that when I click my Public Profile tab I get a This page could not be found, Error 404. There is no way to access my public portfolio page directly from my private portfolio.
Jack McRitchie
Over a month after I first reported this problem, it's still not addressed. I want my featured pictures shown in the order I have set them. I re-order them and a day later come back and find that your program has scrambled them again. In my private portfolio the featured pictures are set in the correct order however on my public photo portfolio, they are not. What's the problem? Mark Z
you might check why it is that when I click my Public Profile tab I get a This page could not be found, Error 404. Regarding this problem, when I go to my Public Profile page and click on Users, I get thumbnails of the people I follow. If I click on Jack's picture, I get the 404 Error. The same error occurs if I click on Todd Kowalski or on Carlos H. On all of the other photographers, I'm taken to their page and portfolio. So, there must be something in common with Jack, Todd, and Carlos. Hope this helps.
gbaldrich
I haven; been here long but it looks like something or several things are broken every day. Yikes!
G-P
tech support is looking into the sorting issue as well as Jack's 404.

Thanks so much for being a long time member. The older accounts have a couple of glitches, wish it was the other way around, the older accounts are considered more valuable, sorry. Your "personalUrl" had a space in it, see below. I've just removed the space. creationDate: 2005-04-06 09:22:52 personalUrl: Jack McRitchie This is your URL now: JackMcRitchie | photo.net Visit: DUMAS | photo.net go to "favorites" "user" your user thumbnail now clicks to that url that will resolve. https://www.photo.net/services/photos/get/searchByPage/0?searchKeyword=&categoryId=0¤tTimeByDays=0&sortBy=featuredSequence&isFeaturedOnly=true&photographerId=1572283 Featured photos was migrated off of the database (too slow 20 30 seconds to load) a process was run to move them to our SOLR index. However your result set for the profile page has a bunch of photos marked as "featured = true" but no "featuredSequence" set, at least for the first 10 or 20, which is why you're reporting them being 'scrambled'. featuredSequence does start appearing further down and is incrementing correctly starting with 2 going up. Prob because there's ones with no featuredSequence set it was considering it the value of 0 showing them all first. Let me check that job again run to get everyone's photos in the data just right, thanks for patience.
Mark Z
Your "personalUrl" had a space in it, see below. I've just removed the space. I hope all of the "personalUrl"s that have a space in them will be found by technicalsupport, and the spaces removed, so this problem will be fixed for everyone. Jack McRitchie
First the good news:the 404 error seems to have been resolved. I echo Mark's hopes in the comment above. And now for our new problem of the day: I decided that I had no need for Featured Photos for now since I simply used it to post my latest picture ( out of order, as it turned out) and would just use my regular Photos page on my public profile which at least shows all of my 2448 photos (if you really care to see them) in the correct order . So I went to my Featured Photo page in my private portfolio and individually removed each picture.Well, imagine my surprise when I found that on my public profile portfolio all the Featured photos were still there and still in the wrong order. I think the software has taken over from its human overlords; it's informing us "we're doing things my way from here on out". This is starting to look like something out of a Marx Brothers comedy or maybe 2001, A Space Odyssey. PS: If anyone out there understands technicalsupport's explanation of how things went wrong, would you provide me with a translation in basic English? Thanks. technicalsupport
HAA! You're killing me Jack, there's a whole bunch of photos saying "featured, featured featured" for you still, you said you just removed them all from featured? It should erase that flag on the photo. I have to reproduce how your featured photo data got in the state that it is.
Jack McRitchie
OK, techguy. I don't know what magic words you whispered to your server but I was able to remove all my Featured Photos and now my pictures appear as just plain portfolio photos in the correct order. Please don't try to explain what you did, I'll just take your word you're on top of things (for now). Regards, Jack
technicalsupport
OK Jack, you're all good then? Your account had some bad luck, usually the older and most active accounts come up with issues because there's more historical data increasing the chance it will have a glitch when it's migrated to support new features. but more data is good! we like the contributions thanks
