alauriston
I have been given a Canon Rebel EOS T3i as a present a few days ago. I looked up its reviews and it seems to be pretty equivalent to my Nikon D90. On some sites it was even given a lower note. So I decided to sell it, since I already have all my gear in Nikon (and in Mamiya 645, and in Pentacon Six...).
Can anyone tell me if the warranty still works when you don't have the store receipt? Interested buyers have asked me this question, and I couldn't answer...
The warranty cards are in the box.
Thanks!

Audrey
john tonai
The warranty is based on the purchase date. Without a receipt no one knows when it was purchased so there is no way to prove it is still under warranty. Try to get the receipt from the person who gave you the camera.
Charles_Webster
I don't believe Canon's warranty is transferable.
My warranty packet says "actual purchaser or who received the camera as a gift from the actual purchaser."
<Chas>

alauriston
I won it in a photo contest, so I can't get a receipt.
I guess that means the warranty won't apply. As you said (John) there is no purchase date. I just have the warranty cards and the store sticker (without price) on the box.
And even if I did, it's no use if it's not transferable as Charles said, since I wan't to sell it.
Thanks for your answers. I'll just sell it without warranty at a lower price.
Cheers,

Audrey
john tonai
Check with the people who run the contest. They should have some type of record of the camera.
daverhaas
I'm guessing that if you still have the original box, warranty card even without the receipt, they (canon) would honor the registration and the warranty on the product. I've never been asked yet for a "receipt" from a manufacturer on a warranty claim, as long as the product was indeed registered to me.

Dave
