bobatkins
"Tog" seems to be becoming more popular as urban slang for "photographer". Less key strokes when texting I guess?

Anyone else hate the term?
carashilaire
I did for a long time - it reminded me of Xmas instead of Christmas. However, tog has since grown on me. I think it became even more popular on twitter because of the tweet character limit.

MichaelChang
Interesting what you get if you image-search for "tog": [Link]

Text search returns a bunch of oil and gas energy links: [Link]

Dictionary search returns references to textiles and their insulance - 15 tog describes the insulation coefficient of an extra-warm duvet. Matt Laur
Michael: I think she means it to affectionately refer to my sometimes caveman-like existence. "Troglodyte," of course, refers to primitive cave dwellers. Here I am sitting in a dim room huddled around the internet campfire - sounds about right. Time to walk the dogs, and be a fall leaf color tog.

bobatkins
Well I've seen it twice so far today in my casual browsing of a few forums. It's not in general use by photographers, but I can assure you it's coming!

It's not just a noun either. To "tog" is now a verb as in "Yesterday I was out togging with my new Leica".

I'm not recommending any of these sites, but you can see the term is in common use

http://www.momtog.com/
https://www.facebook.com/TheModernTog
http://togassist.com/tag/photographer/
http://www.welshtog.co.uk/http://www.welshtog.co.uk/
Yes indeed, Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson and Edward Weston were indeed fine togs and many of their togs were excellent. Next time you're out togging, think of them.

gulfbeach47
Here is how far behind the times I am. I still use a land-line 95% of the time. My cell phone is a ''pay as you go'' tmobile phone. It does not even have a camera. I keep in my car for emergencies, backpack when in the boondocks or for calling my long distance customers. I buy a 1000 minutes and don't come close to using all those minutes in a year. I would not know how to use twitter if my phone is capable and I doubt it is.I also spend too much time on Facebook, so I dont want to be like the zombies I see everywhere that cannot stop texting, no matter where they are.... driving, movies, concerts, restaurants, grocery shopping etc..
Peeps is another word that I doubt I will ever use. Took me awhile to figure out what the heck folks were talking about. At first I thought they meant those marshmallow candies shaped baby chicks, bunnies, etc..
Since, I am doing a mini-rant. What really bugs me is when people make a comment and end it with, ''just saying.'' YES, we know you were ''just saying'' ....since you just said it. Haaaaaaa. Next time I hear that I am gonna reply with ''wow~~groovy.'' Whoops.... showing my age:)

Have they come out with a pro-camera that includes texting yet?
bobatkins
And other one I recently came across. "To gram" or "to 'gram" something is to take an instagram of it. Presumably you can go out 'graming and get lots of 'grams.

I guess real togs don't gram. Or maybe they do...

pbalko
Yeah, I do, but I'm just too stinkin' old and lazy to type all those letters. Had a feeling when I used the term earlier today that I'd ruffle some feathers. Heck, I even ruffled my own. Can we come up with a shorter term?
bobatkins
Og?

Not sure why we need to shorten it though unless we're typing with our thumbs on a touch screen. What's next? Cnon? Nkon? Lca? Sny? It's not like the extra letters cost money...this isn't Fbk or Twtr

We could leave out most of the letters in fact, or just type anything as long as the forst and last leters are right.

I cnduo't bvleiee taht I culod aulaclty uesdtannrd waht I was rdnaieg.
