Sanford
Brian, reminds me of the Yashica Electro rangefinder I bought from a PX in the 60's or 70's. I should have stopped right there, would have saved a lot of money. Nothing, not Contax, not Voighlander, not even a Leica M6 took better photos. The Yashinon-DX 45 mm lens was rated as good as anything (including a Summicron). Seen here with the Yashikor wide angle attachment, which didn't do it any favours, but looks good.

I'd agree with you guys regarding the quality of that Color-Yashinon 45mm f/1.7 lens. I ran a film through one of my Electro 35's a couple of weeks ago and, as usual, shook my head in wonderment at the high quality of the results. Here are a few from a Sony A7R with various old lenses, as noted. Nandinia (105mm Sankyo Kohki Komura f/2.5) Line Dance (135mm Pentacon Prakticar f/2.8) Looks Good Enough to Drink (135mm Pentacon Prakticar f/2.8) Lewisia (28-210mm Vivitar (Cosina) Macro Focusing Zoom f/3.5-5.6)
