Placing SMR disks in RAID with conventional disks can cause problems (see links below). Does it only start with > 2TB drives, or has it been filtered down to all capacities? Does it also apply to video 'surveillance' spec (24/7) drives? I found the list in your link after I posted. Shouldn't have been so lazy! I can't see any mention of their video surveillance drives though, which I've found to work just fine in a desktop PC. I'm wondering if defragging a shingled drive works the same as on separate cylinder drives, in that it restores performance.
