What camera(s) are you using this weekend?

1/2 " ply the shape of the folding crate ( $12 @ Costco) bottom is held to the 3 point luggage rack of moped with a dozen ty wraps. Crate then strapped to ply. Original "inspiration" was for carring a 24 case of decent beer, but I then noticed the crate fitted the Igloo. . .sorry, can not multi task the design. Aloha, Bill

Took a shot on a cheap Ikoflex and it arrived yesterday. Covered in filth I couldn't resist getting out the tools and cleaning materials. Its got some brassing on the nameplate and on top of the finder housing but other than that, its cute. This morning I aligned the viewing lens and taking lens and it was time for a test roll. The leather case needs some stitching but otherwise, well worth $20 including shipping. Here are a couple of shots from it. The shot of the citronella lamp was with the lens wide open at 3.5 and 1/300th.

At the family camera shop we stocked the Yashica FR, FRI, and FRII. Great series of cameras. I used to borrow the FR from display and use the Contax Infrared remote with it. The remote was so sensitive that lightning flashes would trigger it. I wish I'd kept one for myself.

I had one for a while, nicely put together camera. It had a failed frame counter that I managed to put right with help from instructions from Cees De Groot, which I still have if anyone is interested. Eventually, I got fed up with the need to have the rewind lever in the out position to turn the meter on, as a left eye viewer, it runs the risk of a black eye, or at least is very awkward.

I'm getting the results of my 3rd MRI on my knee since July (two operations later, and continual swelling). If it doesn't show any new problems, I'm going out with a couple of NIkon F3HP's to take photos in New Orleans' French Quarter. It's been months since I last went out shooting... :(

I guess this shouldn't really be included here, but it's such a landmark film camera that I'll break the rules. After the collaboration with Contax that created the excellent FR series of cameras, Yashica apparently saw the writing on the wall and were keen to produce an AF film camera, but Contax weren't ready for such a move. So, Kyocera decided to proceed alone, and the Yashica 230 AF was one of the results, the best of a line of three similar autofocus SLR cameras that finally ended the development of Yashica SLRs. As it happened, it was too little too late; it wasn't a commercial success and from that point on Kyocera concentrated on mainly P&S cameras for the low end of the market. The design of this camera owes much to the earlier Minolta 7000, with hints of the Canon T70 and Pentax P30 thrown in. I must admit that I like these grey 1980's cameras with their boxy design, and the Yashica 230 AF is actually an excellent camera, with a small range of fine lenses for it's dedicated mount. The dedicated flash unit that slides over the pentaprism, as shown in my photograph, is a unique and distinguishing feature. I've loaded some FP4 Plus and I'll take it out with me tomorrow.

So, here's the last decent Yashica SLR camera. I've not come across another example down here in New Zealand, but our JDMvW posted an excellent dossier on these cameras about 7 years ago.

I hope your knee does what it supposed to do and you get out to shoot your camera without any trouble.

I'll need a third operation in mid January to clean up some more cartilage and remove another Baker's cyst that reformed behind my knee. If all goes well, I'll be off crutches in a day or so and I'll hope for the best.

If the weather is good, I'm going out shooting this coming Monday. The French Quarter is too crowded during the weekends.

I'm taking out a very tidy example of the Canon T90, arguably one of the finest manual focus SLR camera made, and certainly my favourite. It was the last of the Canon FD-mount MF cameras, but it's styling came out of left field and set the pattern for Canon EOS cameras right up to today, To me, it's an almost perfect blend of utility and beauty.
