Tony Brandstetter
Unfortunately I am in the same boat, pleading for help and receiving none, since April to be exact. Disrespect
G-P
@jack - your recommendations were passed along to the dev team and many of them are things that will be implemented. I thanked you back then and I will thank you again. Yes - it is slower than we all want, but we are making progress. @tony - submitting critiques for old photos does current present a problem but they will fix that soon enough. G-P
As for my concerns, they remain pretty much the same as they were last May when I sent you a long and rather carefully organized (if I do say so myself) critique of My Portfolio and all the galleries therein. As I recall you thanked me and promised action back then, too, which I have yet to see. to be clear - it was this May - not last May.
Norma Desmond
Glenn, it was this June that you said your two top tech guys were working on the issue that's locking me out of being able to post to forums for up to 8 hours a day and also this June that you told me, "tomorrow I'll see if I can change your membership status to see if that's causing the issue." Now, it's been about 4-6 weeks since I've heard from you about it, and your two top tech guys obviously haven't been able to fix it yet. My membership status has not changed. That's dropping the ball big time. We didn't need dialogue. We had faces!
G-P
We were not able to replicate the issue you were reporting. You are the only one having this issue as far as we know. We have no way to gift memberships and I told you that yesterday. Today - it appears you have no issue posting.
Norma Desmond
I don't know when you told me that yesterday, but if you did, I certainly didn't see it. And that doesn't address the fact that you left me hanging for six weeks. I can understand why you didn't address that lack of follow-up. As I've told you, it's inconsistent. I may very well be able to post all day today. I wasn't able to do so yesterday for about two hours in the afternoon. If you need confirmation, go back to yesterday's posting history and you'll see a two-hour lapse in my postings in the late afternoon / early evening hours. I may not be able to post again tomorrow. That's how it's been for three months now. And I could have problems this afternoon. Who knows? What purpose was served by showing screen caps of my posts from today? I'm not claiming something that's not happening. Several long-time and regular participants, Gordon and Julie included, have had the same error messages as me though not to the extent I have. I've emailed you and posted to threads, and I've seen screen grabs from Gordon and others posted as well, that show the error message being generated. That your tech crew can't replicate the issue is too bad. I don't know what to say in response other than how unacceptable a close to the matter that would be for me if I were administering a public web site. We didn't need dialogue. We had faces! gordonjb
I regularly get error messages rather than being able to post. This occurs with the same level of unpredictability as everything else on this site. And no, I'm not intersted in having a debate about this, so no point in collecting up my posts and making screen capture of them like youy did with Fred. GerrySiegel
Having problems.... No we can't duplicate your results in peer review, so your empirical results are suspect. The customer us usually A) Wrong B) Confused C) Impatient. I only wish to add that the tone of the reply is not exactly "encouraging" to a long time member in good standing,,,who has given time ideas and help to the forums I mean Fred G. If a drastic change to a membership is needed ? to test the problem solution, why the blazes not do the thing. Sorry if I offend. I would be dyspeptic about state of affairs if I spent more time here...Something must be kerfuffled and needs major rework. Just an opinion, albeit firm one. Contracts should always be based on performance...hold any progress payments is what the Navy does.
Mrcreem
I found this definition of impressions and views related to ads: Clicks are how many times someone clicks on an ad, and impressions are the number of times an ad is displayed. ... The user clicks through to another page, where the same ad is above the header. Now the blog has received two pageviews, and the ad has also received two impressions. Based on this description, I think that the impressions might have more to do with your use of categories and tags, and where and how often the picture is showing up on various tag searches and category pages. Just another guess Mitch

western_isles
I have just come back to PN after a while away from photography in general. My impression, no pun intended, of V 2 is not that good to the extent I am holding off membership renewal. Regarding "impressions", this strikes me as at best an illogical use of language which only serves to confuse members. A definition that I would use of the word is "an idea, feeling, or opinion about something or someone, especially one formed without conscious thought or on the basis of little evidence" (Source: Standard Oxford English Dictionary). If these issues are not addressed then I do not foresee my subscribing again. Moreover, other people will not subscribe which again will be a great shame. western_isles
I have just posted an image which I am quite simply not sure about and was seeking members critique of, great, learning activity. Then I notice the same image has over a 147 "Impressions". Not at all convinced this is accurate especially as it is only hours being posted. michaellinder
QUOTE="Gerald Cafferty, post: 5587690, member: 3883349"]Access to a users manual or a glossary of terms would be one resolution or a least a system of being able to ask whoever if anyone is in control I totally agree, GC. I posted a similar comment in a similar Site Help thread. Needless to say, several members responded in one way or the other. But, to my surprise, Glenn didn't respond at all! (Catch the sarcasm?) G-P
If you don't like impression - then what word do you like to convey how many times the thumbnail of the photo has been viewed in our Explore Tab. "ThumbViews"...again open for suggestions.
Sanford
You mean just sliding the mouse arrow over a gallery page racks up "impressions" as you go? How about returning the "slide show" feature to gallery viewing, always one of my favorite ways to view photos.
Jack McRitchie
How about working with someone who has a large portfolio and is actually active on the photo side of PN because it seems obvious to me that none of the people who are responsible for creating this site actually use it to any extent. If they were truly familiar with the day to day operations and navigation it wouldn't be in the sorry state it's in.

How about returning the "slide show" feature to gallery viewing, always one of my favorite ways to view photos. A thumbnail view of photos is what an impression is. When it comes to slideshows - you can view photos within a gallery as a slideshow with the <previous and next> arrows. Go to this gallery as an example: Portrait of actress Ashlyn Pearce | Photo.net you will see this above the photo. If you click on the photo from this page, you will get a view where you don't have to scroll and you can still click <previous and next>.
Sanford
"Previous/next" isn't what I had in mind. The P/N previous version had a feature called "slide show". When enabled, It would Automatically show a full screen slide show of a gallery...no "previous/next" required.
paul rollin
I have one photo that has collected 201,893 "Impressions" since it was posted 06/29/18. I would really like to know what the hell "Impressions" is based on. I suppose I should be happy with the high number, and just keep quiet about it. It was chosen as an editors pick and was featured on the home page. The impression number is simply a count of how many times the thumbnail was viewed.
