Mike Gammill
Anyone try this film in Rodinal for stand development? Thought it might be interesting.
murray_kelly
I have been developing such films in a brew consisting of Rodinal 1ml plus HC-110 1ml in 250 ml water as a stand developer for 30 min. Longer doesn't hurt if the TV has something better to watch.
Mike Gammill
Thanks, Murray. I might try that combination. Maybe catch a inning from a MLB game while the film sits in developer.
Mike Gammill
Added 4 mL of Rodinal to 400 mL water at around 70 F. Initial agitation of three inversions and three more at midpoint, Total time in developer of one hour. Results looked good.
joecrumley
Murry, What's the advantage of adding HC110 I've been using Mikes formula for years. Twenty to be exact.
murray_kelly
Murry, What's the advantage of adding HC110 I've been using Mikes formula for years. Twenty to be exact. Joe, a thousand apologies. I missed the question. Mea Culpa. The HC-110 addition is like adding sulphite and/or borax to give a brew that delivers fine grain and (IMHO) a better gradation of grays. There has been much discussion about it elsewhere. I measured the pH at 8.8 which is the same as HC-110. I use it with films like Rollei Retro 80s and Bluefire and anything slower. They all seem to need some help to get satisfactory tonal representation. But ... it's my assessment only. YMMV. I include one that was on Ro80s and that brew and am pleasantly surprised at the result. I offered the idea as a suggestion only as the OP will undoubtedly have moved on in the intervening period. Sorry, again
Bill Bowes
For the occasional roll of Rollei Pan 25 or Retro80s that go thru my cameras, a SS of 3ml Rodinal in 450ml of DI water is used. 30 sec initial agitation, (1) ez over @ 2, 4, 8, 15, 30, & 60 minute dump. Use the 45min dump for control of higher contrast. Works like a charm! Negs are perfect for wet lab printing & scan EZ. Bill
