bt1664886028
Hello there! I was wondering if anybody could help me figure out whether this Leica R3 MOT is real or fake. Cause i really don't want to buy a fake one. Thanks in advance!
Richard Williams
Real. I don't think there is such a thing as a fake R3. This is what to look out for when buying one: Buying a used Leica R3 / R3 Mot Camera
Gus Lazzari
Leica R3 cameras in GWO are fantastic cameras ! The lens on the other hand, is a fake...
SCL
Well, the lens isn't actually a fake, Tamron Adaptall lenses with the proper adapters fit many cameras including the Leica R series, but they are nowhere near as well designed, optically or cosmetically, as the Leica lenses. So simply, the lens on the camera body you show isn't a Leica lens, but a Tamron lens.
Robin Smith
Camera: yes. Lens is indeed a Tamron, one of the very few that could actually fit an R mount that was not made by Leica Robin Smith

richard_oleson
Real. I don't think there is such a thing as a fake R3. This is what to look out for when buying one: Buying a used Leica R3 / R3 Mot Camera I did once sort of hack a fake R4 .... I had a Sears KS2 that was roughly the right size and color and had no name on the prism, so I made a LEICA logo and a red dot and glued them on. For the 50/1.7 Rikenon lens I made a new ID strip calling it a Mediocron. I kept it that way for a while as a joke, but after a clerk at a local Leica dealer complimented me on my Leica I got kind of scared and removed the logos.
