korin
Just wondered what the general opinion of this is.
Lou_Meluso
Never heard of it. Vivitar made a 135mm f/2.8 Close Focusing lens, in FD mount, that is very good. Perhaps you mean Canon FD 100mm f/4 Macro or the FD 135mm f/2.8 short telephoto.
SCL
It doesn't show up in any of the lists of Canon produced lenses. Perhaps you're thinking of a third partty lens in an FD mount. As Louis said, the Vivitar 135/2.8 CF is an excellent lens.

gordon_yee
This lens is a rebranded Makinon lens. Makina was a run-of-the-mill third-party lens manufacturer. It is not a true macro lens, but rather a standard lens with an extended helicoid for closer focusing.

http://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/makinon-135mm-f-2-8-mc.
htmlhttp://www.pentaxforums.com/userreviews/makinon-135-f2-8-mc-macro.html
http://camera-wiki.org/wiki/Makina_Optical

korin
Thanks for your time. I havent checked yet but will. I ended up looking at the lens above not because it was presenta but as a comment made by a long time photographer who had what he remembered as the above configuration for fd but a sigma ys. However I am not sure if he meant old fd mount.

thomas_goehler
I wouldn't bid on it. Even if it was any good, which I doubt, the price is much too high for such a lens. These are the things that you normally get for 5-10 bucks from the grab box!
korin
I came to same conclusion. There are more interesting 135mm lenses around.
mwmcbroom
If you really are looking for a 135mm macro, I can highly recommend the Vivitar. Just look for the Vivitar 135mm f/2.8 with a 62mm front filter size. Mine is an amazingly sharp lens. Since being "discovered," however, they've become rather pricey. But considering they're a great macro lens, the prices you find them at is about inline with the demand.
korin
Thanks for this. I already look for old vivitars but had forgotten this. The macro would be useful as i like to use a tele to do this! I have a vivitar adjustable macro as well. Interesting combo maybe!
