Thank you all (and Mr. Triplet) for the assistance, suggestions, and responses.

I took delivery of my new refurbished Canon Rebel T6s (18-135 IS STR lens) on Wednesday. I've shot up the house and now need to move outside. It's a matter of survival really, Cindy says if I take one more shot in the house she is going to, well, you get the idea.

I read loud and clear that I needed to "get busy taking pictures" and that is what I am doing. I know how to push the shutter button, the rest is foggy but I'm learning.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and usefull suggestions.

Better a rookie than a whookie. ;-) Gary, here's hoping your new hobby brings all the enjoyment you desire. Be careful, though, not to ignore or annoy the wife. Cameras and lenses, not to mention husbands, can be sensitive to being thrown out on the front stoop. Never hesitate to ask advice, input, or opinion. You will undoubtedly get an earful (eyeful?) from the PNet gang. Best wishes, David.

This is when it starts getting interesting. Just like when you start with a lump of clay and begin to shape it into something...
Cheers,
