Is it the end of Lumix camera? According to Panasonic policy, the company will discontinue a business which brings financial loss in 3 consecutive years. The day for Lumix business is counting now.

You've been trolling about Panasonic for a few years now. In fact, that's pretty much your only "contribution" to this forum - trolling about your anticipated demise of Panasonic. Did you drop and break a Panasonic 8-Track back in 1973 while swapping stereos from your Gremlin to your new Pinto and they wouldn't replace it free? Awful long time to hold a grudge.

Nonsense talk. Panasonic and Sony have entered the camera market to compete and diversify product lines. And from the products and the lenses they are doing a decent job. Plasma tech had its day and the size of LCD panels and weight of plasma and the manufacturing costs are likely the contributors to decline. TV is a mature market that is all and lighter panels are what folks want.

I'd expect Sony to bow out of cameras way before Panasonic. I still have and shoot with a 2008 Lumix compact digital camera (FX35 in case you're wondering which one) while traveling when I need a quick grab shot, and it still produces great images for a tiny little camera. The image quality and quality of construction are top rate. I also like Panasonic as a brand for TV's (have one), telephones (have one), and DVD players (have one Blu-Ray player).

How can you make the leap from closing a *plasma* plant to the end of their camera line? LED LCD panels are the future, not plasma. Prove to me you're not a simple troll and draw the link between this plant closing and the "end of Lumix." Go ahead. I dare you.

Actually OLED is the future. It's flexible, thereby making thinner, lighter displays that can be curved like Samsung's new curved smartphone and 55" curved TV.
The technology also produces a brighter picture with deeper blacks than plasma thereby making it more accurate.

Hilarious, I was a young teenager then, I thought the Gremlins and then the Pacers were the coolest car ever...what was I thinking?

When the announcement was made in our local business section about Panasonic closing out its plasma production it also made mention of a loss in business from its camera division and a possible retrenchment there. Nothing firm, just an analyst's speculation.
Thank you for the link's to past postings from Peter Robert. They are VERY FUNNY! Aside from the part about his kids Organ lessons there is also the mistaken idea that Nikon, Canon and Olympus are only Camera companies.
And GE only builds jet engines.
