Lou_Meluso
Very nice, Gene. Thanks. Yer whetting my whistle for one of them Texas Leicas. I have the Contax IIa. Nice cam but the finder too squinty for me and my thick glasses. Shame, great lenses.
tony_lockerbie
Aah, wonderful stuff Gene! Great combo, a svelte Contax and a Texas Leica, both with the only purpose of taking great shots. Love the old Buick, the colour shot of the door handle and foliage really stands out.
Although you can't really tell here, the Fujinon lens is painfully sharp. Nice to see that spring is well and truly with you.
paul_wheatland
Gene: your western MA images are the best, my former territory in business before retirement 7 years ago. By the way your photos of the cameras in question are of the quality found in high end catalogs, composition and lighting, etc.
MathewDH
Nice shots. I liked the black and white image from behind the drivers side Good placement of the light and dark elements.

When were you planning on restoring the vehicles?
gene m
Gee Tony, I think they're pretty sharp.
Louis, I find it more and more difficult to focus anything these days. It sucks.
Paul, the photos were done with a Nikon D800. An incredibly overpriced DSLR with a magnificent sensor.
Mathew, I'm going to let them pick up more patina.
ralf_j.
Wow, Gene, you shelled that kind of cash for d800? I though you are just fine with the D50.

Anyway, awesome photos, the old Buick beater takes the cake for me. Wish I could restore one and floor that pedal on the Belt here!

steve_mareno1
The scary thing Gene is that the Contax is not a small camera by any stretch of the imagination. I had one of those Fujis. It took sharp but unremarkable photos. When I unpacked the camera upon receiving it from KEH (the size of the box should have tipped me off for what was to come) my wife burst out laughing. I never did get the red nose and big shoes to go w/ it, and that along w/ the photos it took meant it made a hasty exit from our abode. It sure was built well though and had an excellent viewfinder. Pulling that film through the film gate took quite a bit of pressure, which I never understood, as my Bessa II 6x9 folder was smooth and easy to advance the film (knob wind).
rick_drawbridge
Big negatives, big quality...That Fuji really is a great performer; it may lack soul but it sure delivers. A big, professional, picture-taking machine, for sure... Thanks Gene, those B&W's of the car are positively three-dimensional.
gene m
Steve.
I don't think cameras create remarkable photographs. They're just dumb chunks of metal, plastic and glass. Creating a remarkable photograph involves many factors.
