Lou_Meluso
Happy New Year to all Canon FD fans! We have come to the time of the month when we look back to the last month, or beyond, and post our favorite pictures, up to five, made with your Canon FD equipment. We welcome any discussion or comments about the pictures, equipment or techniques used.

For me, 2011 is the year my FD kit "went digital" by using my FD lenses with a Samsung NX100. Here are a few done recently.

FDn 50mm f/1.4
These red winter berries had dried leaves still attached that reminded me of tongues of flame. The FD 50mm f/1.4 is a stunner on the Samsung.

These big cats have always fascinated me. The world's fastest land animal yet the only felid that does not have retractable claws. A noble beast indeed.

User_5050610
Louis--outstanding photos, as usual!
Thanks for posting--how did you get the very dark background in the photo of the berries?
A beauty, for sure.
Thomas--great photo of the snow tree--almost an abstract.
HNY to all!
Paul
maiku
Louis, the Samsung is intriguing, but I am trying to reduce, so I cannot join your party. My Canon A1, 50/1.8 and 24/2.8 are now my only film SLR gear. The 24/2.8 is really an amazing lens. The proof is in the pudding.

JDMvW
Small wonder that the prices on the old FD lenses keep going up.

Nice work, all.
Lou_Meluso
Thanks Thomas for contributing an image image. What a beautiful pattern those snow covered branches make.

Yes, Mike, The FD 24mm f/2.8 sure is an impressive optic and I love what you've done with it on Photo 3 & 5. Good eye!

Paul, thanks for the comments. The background went naturally dark. They were dark trees in the early morning light and shade from trees to the left of me. The berries were in full raking light so the correct exposure for them sent the bkg very dark. If you blow open the exposure, as shown in the raw capture below, you can actually see some texture back there but it's way out of focus. After determining the correct exposure, all the raw capture needed was a bit of cropping and the background went jet black naturally. It does help the berries and leaves to stand out a bit.

gabor_szabo3
Sorry, I missed December opportunities with Canon gear..... Here's a shot of of the White Manna in Hackensack, NJ on January 2, 2012. Not as mild as it was the few days prior, but burger fans will brave frigid temps waiting in line for their favorite sliders. I used an AE-1 with an old Canon 50/1.4 chrome nose with tons of fungus. Drugstore Fujicolor 200 developed at the Costco down the road.

Lou_Meluso
Thanks Gabor! Drop a photo in anytime. Amazing quality for clouded lens. No relation, but I mostly remember White Castle growing up with those little patties of mystery meat that slid down our throats by the bagful.
rick_drawbridge
Great pics, Louis , Mike and Gabor. Those little Samsungs are really something, Louis ! I just didn't get an opportunity to do much FD work in December, through I did run a film through a newly-arrived A1. It came with a Canon FD 2X-B tele-extender, that I was interested to try out, though I've since onsold it. Here's a sample pic, with the extender fitted to a Canon FD 135mm f/2.8
