Happy Nikon Wednesday! Some of the one I like so far:

Simon Jenkins - great environmental portrait
Michael ferron - Wow, great texture and pattern, wouldn't work nearly as well in colour.
Finlay Jolliffe - As one who has tried to photograph Pufffins, I'm impressed!
Pascal Burel - love the light on those sunflowers

Here's some hay bails taken a couple of weeks ago with Galley Head, (Co. Cork, Ireland) in the background + LOTS of grain thanks to in being developed in in Rodinal!

00Yzx8-376849584.jpg.e649f500d67a64006de937691a375fbb.jpg

It's the wee small hours of the morning here in NYC -- absolutely amazing vivid photographs so far. @Michael: HP5 forever. It's a recent love affair for me. But today's shot is digital, fooling around with my new/old AF 28-105mm 1:3.5-4.5D's macro function, photographing the rosary (homage a Serrano?) I keep on my desk among the rocks and other artifacts of ancient life..... like Waterman blue-black ink and 6-frame strips of 35mm film in poly sleeves. I'm impressed with this obscure and inexpensive lens. Would love to hear from others who have it/use it. I believe it was the kit lens with the F100? F90? long ago. Have a great week.

00YzxA-376851584.jpg.fe8449cd5ca59a09e36dc4bcedb75470.jpg

Everyone got a jump start, looking very good. This is from an event at The Mark for Events in Los Angeles just before the doors opened last Tuesday. I actually didn't expect to get as bright an exposure with how dark the room really was (I love this new D300s). Did a bit of correction with Apple Preview and iPhoto (still don't like the way Aperture works, yet I'm a Mac fanboy).

00YzxC-376853584.jpg.c6b76efe6fd115269a822372567bd40f.jpg

I like the way that backlit flower petals catch the light, so was trying out a bit of backlighting using a portable flashgun aimed up at the flower. Ended up using a ringflash as well to balance the frontal light with the backlighting. Still not completely satisfied, but I'll keep working at it - as long as the flowers stay in bloom.

Greetings all on a chilly wed here in South Africa.
From my side not been out shooting much thx to work and the really cold weather of late. So for now this is a photo I took recently of a good friend while testing out my newly aquired beauty dish. Or as David Hobby calls it, the character dish. I can see why they are so popular now, but it's by no means the answer to all lighting needs.

00Yzyl-376879584.jpg.5d70fadb33233dea9871d8567b2199c2.jpg
