bruce_erickson1
Two questions. DR5 offers to process bw negative film into positive transparencies. First what bw neg. film is best for this process? Second: Does this process reduce the quality of the image in any way? (I would probably scan the slide as well as project it.)
rick_donnelly
DR5 is an excellent process, which produces superior results for scanning in my experience. Rather than reducing the quality, it seems to increase the apparent dynamic range and produces very good contrast, much as with transparency color films. They also claim it is archival, but I can't speak to that from experience.

Which film to use is very much a matter of personal taste. I've had great results with Ilford HP5, which maintains full ISO speed under HP5, unlike some other films. I think that it is the most popular emulsion for DR5. On the other extreme end, Efke 25 is said to produce the very best image for scanning, although its slow speed prevents me from using it regularly.
