joshroot
<i>"You think we're sleeping in Dusseldorf? You think we're taking a nap in Cologne? No, we're working at night! Each night a new dial, a new knob, a diode, a transistor..." - Professor Krassman (Mel Brooks), the Muppet Movie</i> <p> Another long awaited feature has made it's photo.net debut. There is now a slick new system for re-ordering the folders in a user's portfolio. It operates in much the same way that the previously announced <a href="http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00NA2f">image re-ordering system</a> works. <p>Go to your "my workspace", then click on "manage your portfolio" (under the "your portfolio" heading), then click on "Re-order the folders in your portfolio". Just click and drag your folders into whatever order you want them. Click the check boxes if you want to hide individual folders from your normal portfolio view. Don't forget to click "save", or your changes won't take effect. <p> We've tested the system, and it works just fine for us. But if you find any issues, please post them in <a href="http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=00NtJI">this Feedback Forum thread</a>. And for goodness sake, be sure to thank Patrick for his hard work on both the folder and image re-ordering. <p> <a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://bp2.blogger.com/_kuHzyUjpGII/R377xqIAn-I/AAAAAAAAABM/R6i_KatIYy4/s1600-h/folder-reorder.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://bp2.blogger.com/_kuHzyUjpGII/R377xqIAn-I/AAAAAAAAABM/R6i_KatIYy4/s200/folder-reorder.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5151831854298472418" /></a>
les
It works for me too ! Great job - and thanks a bundle, Patrick and everyone else !
les
No issues, just an observation: folders can be re-arranged OK, but on page http://www.photo.net/photodb/user?user_id=xxxxxx, the listed folder names stay in order as before re-arranging. Intentional, "undocumented feature", or simply not intended to be modified ?
joshroot
Leszek, I think that is something that was just missed. Thanks for noticing. If it's possible, I'll ask Patrick to switch it.
pmj
Leszek. thanks for bringing it up. I tried to make as few changes as possible to prevent surprises. The page you mention has for a very long time sorted the folders by title, even when we already had the previous version of folder re-ordering. Because people might be used to the way it works, I decided not to change it all of a sudden. I guess it makes more sense to apply the same sorting order on every (public) page and technically it's no problem.
