keh.com has D7000 for $432 - $449. I have done a fair amount of business there and find them to be very straightforward and reliable.

Small inconvenience dep't: I am unable to prevent the SCP (super control panel) from disappearing after about 12 seconds of nonuse. (Olympus OM-D E-M10.) Sometimes, that isn't enough time to figure out what to do next with it. Often, it goes off just as I'm reaching for it, so I have to press OK to turn it back on. It is just another step, but I'd like to set the persistence to be longer. Any ideas?

FWIW, recently I sold my Canon 50D and lenses, in favor of an Olympus OM-D E-M10. It is an amazing little camera for about $600. I got the November deals from Olympus for about $370 off camera and two lenses, a small 40-150mm and the excellent 12-40mm f/2.8 pro. The E-M10 isn't quite as complex as the E-M5, but the 10 does have the newer processing chip and better E-M1 based electronic viewfinder. Nice review by Robin Wong (an Olympus employee but personal blog) if you are interested in more info. http://robinwong.blogspot.com/2014/01/olympus-om-d-e-m10-review-part-1.html

Just wondering, how is the 25mm f/1.8 as a walk around alternative to the longer 45? (on an E-M10)

Thanks, we'll try that!

We have seen some at a distance, from our lanai at a Napili resort, including a couple breaching. However, binoculars are helpful and photos with a 300mm equivalent lens give a small image of the whale. A whale tour is advised.

We are going to be in west Maui (on the west coast, a ways north of Lahaina) for a couple of weeks this month. We are very interested in getting photos of whales as they are nearby shore in places. Where would you suggest that we set up with a tripod and a 40-150mm lens on an Olympus OM-D EM-10 (35mm equivalent of 80-300mm)? Or some other places for just eyeball viewing? Thanks for any suggestions.

...I believe Arizona has that name already (Arizona Coyotes, formerly Phoenix Coyotes, NHL hockey).

Here's another idea, the color picker affects it -- try Google:

Sorry, accidental double post.

I recently moved from a Canon 50D system to Olympus OM-D E-M10. Early days, but so far I'm loving it -- a lot less size and weight, better image quality, and much more flexibility in the system. And it does focus FAST. The 12-40mm f/2.8 is an excellent and versatile lens. Also have the 40-150mm and have handheld at 150mm at 1/2 second, as the in-body image stabilization makes every lens an IS lens. The E-M10 has some features from the E-M1 that are not found in the earlier E-M5, including the newer processing chip, and a better electronic viewfinder (though not quite that of the E-M1).

Well, thanks for preaching, some of the singers in this choir haven't learned that tune.

If you move the files, be sure to do it within Lightroom so it "knows" where they are. Otherwise, it can get difficult to fix your catalog when image files are missing.

Thanks, I see what you mean.

FYI - Chris Orwig has a chapter on this at lynda.com in:
Jan Kabili also covers selecting hair in editing and retouching in PSE 11. There are several others.
