I just wanted to get some input on this photo. I had a lot of fun taking this shot.

I suppose that makes me want to share. Thanks for your time.

  1. Thank you for the comments and suggestions, keep them coming! Yes, the globe is upside down. It rotates completely in it's stand. He turned it upside down, presumably because he wanted to see that particular section of the North Atlantic. Either that or he was looking for the legend.

(I'm commenting without reading other comments first) Well, the bug is pretty much smack in the middle of the photo. I thinkI'd have tried to put him off center. Even though you used therule of thirds with your horizantle line, the sky (?) above theflower is not very interesting. I think I might have tried toget in a little closer, put the bug off center, and eliminatethe sky entirely. Something like this:

  2. I am assuming the depth of field was intentional since it is so very shallow. I don't think it works for me, I'd like to see more in focus. Are the letters your copywrite protection? That made it very hard to view the photo, and confusing for me. Thanks for sharing it.
  3. I like the idea of this image. I might try the concept again. I was

troubled that the background was cluttered. I cheated, and

touched it up this time, but I'm thinking of trying again with a

different background, which might be a logistical challenge, but

I'm up for that. Do you have any other ideas for improving on this

    concept?

It's a nice portrait of a lovely subject. Some larger catch lights in her eyes would have been nice. I don't think there is anything wrong with the pose. In my opinion, "posing" doesn't really work with children anyway. I prefer this more natural looking photo than the canned baby poses you get from the pros anyway. I'm sure you and she will treasure the photo. I like the lighting, what is the source? Thank you for sharing this with us.

Boy, I don't know. You think "something" is wrong, but you don't really hint at what kind of something it could be. Would it be more interesting if you got a little higher and lower up and down looping motion on the sparkler itself? I wonder if that would put some dark spaces in the bright white segment? Have fun, Thanks for sharing.

Very pretty delicate side lighting. I like the fact that the back ground is solid and undistracting. The DOF works pretty well. The composition is a bit off, the cat's head is too much in the middle for me, and the blade of grass on the cat's nose is a little distracting. I think it's a great start with the new lens. Keep it up! Thanks for sharing.
  4. How did I do with the cropping on this photo? I cropped a bit off

the bottom, but now the aspect ratio is a bit odd, does that

matter? I welcome other comments as well. What could I do

differently next time to make this a better photo? Is it interesting?

Or am I under the influence of loving my subjects? Thanks in

    advance.

  5. Thats a fair question about the cropping. Ill be honest. This was about the sixth try to get the shot before he took the hat off. I was hand holding, my husband held the hat down and we counted one, two, three...GO! and he let go and I quickly snapped the shutter. Frankly, I was delighted that it worked as well as it did. I guess if I had used the tripod I could have planned my composition a bit better. There is always something to learn. Thanks for the input.
  6. Just wanted to express my appreciation for all the compliments. I tingled when I saw this one. Of course, it's my baby, literally, and artistically. I too was disapointed when I saw the cropped thumb, however, I was delighted when I discovered that my whole thumb is on the negative. Going to have a nice print made, which includes the rest of my thumb.

Thanks a million, now my standards have jumped another notch, GOSH DARNIT!
