I think what I loved the most about the PNW, especially Olympic National Park, is the ability to compose intimate landscapes that have never been done before -- and likely I could never even locate again :) I made a point to really explore and go deep i

  7. This interesting granary took some due diligence to finally find it. So I photographed it from a few angles, I preferred this one using a telephoto lens to compress the scene and draw the imposing mountains in close. It was pretty bright, flat lighting w

@ Larry Korhnak THX, I'm trying to figure out how to navigate the landscape here :) I was part of Photo-net years ago.. not sure what happened but it all disappeared. Just getting familiar with things again, and appreciate the tip on the photo description. I wasn't aware that it was an issue sitewide.

I can still feel my calves burn from trying to balance myself and not lose my footing on the steep and damp gorge wall. I found a composition I was pretty happy with -- but the beams of sunlight were teasing the hell out of me. I kinda didn't want the s

Hey Vincent, THX I appreciate the feedback.. I know I didn't embellish much in the description -- but this image was the result of getting completely skunked down at the Reflection lakes. Wow, the fog was like a wool sweater. Anyhow I didn't want to give up being I had just 6 more mornings left at Rainier, so I headed east to much higher ground for several miles. Finding a random location was pure luck -- LOL as soon as I saw any sign of the big snow-covered hill I nosed the rental car off the roadway, headlamp on, and hiked into the woods. Came upon this clearing and that was it :)
  18. @ Glenn.. IMO it's not a great idea to make "digital image files" available to purchase online. From the onset, it may seem to be a convenient way to simplify the sales process. But in reality, you could allow someone to purchase a digital file anywhere online for just a few bucks -- and you simply cannot regulate how they use your © image once they get it in their possession. They might make hundreds of prints and re-sell them (at your expense) post them online illegally for personal or commercial uses. The ways someone can take advantage of you by possessing the printable image file are endless.
  19. Etsy is one quirky place. I'll go on a limb and say it's not worth the effort. The only "sales" I've experienced there have been my annual calendars. We're definitely not talking impressive numbers either. It's really difficult for both artists and photographers, in particular, to generate sales on a consistent basis. When you visit Etsy, they don't hide the fact that they are not about Art and especially no photographic arts. In fact, they lump art in with collectibles in their drop-down menu. I'd say it's deemphasized. In their category widgets, they don't even list art at all. Not exactly great screen real estate. Etsy highlights products and rotates them weekly. You'll see candles, shelves, sweaters & mittens, gadgets for the campfire... but art or photography? LOL, let me know! It's pretty clear from the homepage, Etsy is all 'bout the crafts.
