  10. Thanks guys, and same series for different versions, very plausible, from what I can tell both are original lenses and exhibit the trademarks of their respective versions, my copy is is ~approx 1mm shorter and does not have a green hue but a slightly mild magenta hue, in my head I had the mild magenta as the © coating and the green hue as the (nmc) coating
  11. Hi, Someone may hopefully clear this up for me, I have the 35mm shift lens, the beauty ring has the following: Olympus OM System Zuiko Shift 1:28 f=35mm 109415 By all accounts this was type 1 with a single coating ©, when looking it has a mild magenta hue to it A colleague also has a 35mm shift lens, the beauty ring has the following: Olympus OM System Zuiko Shift 35mm 1:28 107444 Japan By all accounts this is type II, and is multi coated (NMC), when in the light it has a green hue to it The question is the type two in this scenario, has an older serial number (I think) Could it be that both type 1 and II lenses were still being produced in parallel? My own lens I should say is excellent and a joy to use but this has peaked my curiosity!
  12. Hi John and thanks, it seems the second one is a type E - Split Image Micro-prism, my second one looks like one as well but has the larger circle\donut type ring round it, maybe its just a mark over time where the light passes from the lens?
  13. Hi all, I have aquired two very nice A1's, I plan to keep one and pass one for someone else to enjoy, one in particular has a quite different looking focus screen but I'm unsure of what it is called or what purpose it serves, any help would be appreciated. Kind regards

An interesting thread, personally defining professional is difficult, I believe at the time of the OM1 and the early to mid seventies Olympus truly believed the OM1 would revolutionise the industries that made use of SLR's, so in essence I suspect they saw the OM1 and the OM system as a Professional system to be used by both professionals, enthusiasts and even amatuers, the following is a quote from Sir Don McCullin who certainly was a professional at the top of his game: He (Sir Don McCullin) told us (Olympus) that he had been able to capture his amazing battlefield photographs in Vietnam and various other war zones because his camera was light. He wanted to thank us for that. My eyes filled with tears when he told us that the OM SLRs had lifted a weight from the shoulders of photographers everywhere. He really understood the significance of our efforts to create compact, lightweight cameras. That was a wonderful moment. It was around this time that I (Olympus Engineer) started to design the OM2. It does not go to say if Sir Don McCullin ended up using the OM2 as well :) Personally I prefer the OM2n over this model.
  16. Hi Jim, Thanks for the reply and this now makes perfect sense, I have also double checked a test film again, this time I checked the film and 16 frames is the end film of the cannister and cannot physically pull any more film out of it Many thanks for putting me right on this.
  17. Hi all, I'm having an issue with my 135w back, each time I run a test film through the manual winding process on the camera crank stops advancing the film after frame 16, the film rewind works fine at this point and I can safely rewind the film. I've only tried the one film and one body. I believe I'm loading the film correctly and everything works fine until frame 16, not sure of anayone has seen simialr issues with this bavck or the 135n one or may understand where I could start to troubleshoot? Kind regards
  18. Hi, So found a little more time to look a my poorly OM2, @ Dustin - You gave me an idea on the mirror, long story short further tests have led me to the following, everytime the shutter stick, or the second curatin does not fire across is because the mirror does not quite make it to the top of the cage, if i gently push the mirror with my finger to the top the second curtain fires and
