  1. Thanks for the comments on the pic. It was one of many on a pretty active day at the refuge near by. This one was one of a couple that was worth playing with. I did a "Save As" to the processed file prior to playing. What you're looking at has "v2" appended to the file name. I did go back and check and didn't see a "Restore" option so maybe I'm not using the exact same program as Sandy mentioned but something similar. It certainly worked. For Tony's question about processing...… DPP is short for Digital Photo Professional, Canon's free processing system. It's okay but not as powerful as the paid systems and I'm losing my reluctance to paying for one but that's a subject for another thread. I shoot RAW so everything gets something including cropping,
  2. Thanks guys/gal for all the help. I use DPP (cheap Canon shooter here) and will need to check that to see if I can change the size. In the short run, I tried Sandy's idea, however, and reduced the size of the picture below from over 9MB to less than 300k. Thanks.
  3. The title of this post may be a little confusing. I have not yet posted the pic. It's still on my computer.
  4. I went to post a picture this morning and noticed it was taking a while to upload. I checked the size of the file and noticed it was about twice the size that is suggested for this site. I can't figure out, however, how to downsize the file and thought someone here could clue me in. I'm working in a PC windows environment if that's relevant. Thanks

  6. The next time someone asks why a photographer gets up at the (or, more likely, before) the crack of dawn, show them these. Otherwise pretty good pics if you can ignore the people. I knew going in there'd be issues with people given the nice holiday weekend but wanted to practice waterfall shots and this was suggested by my son and his girlfriend. These are from Cedar Falls in Hocking Hills State Park, Ohio.

  8. Thanks. It's been on the bucket list for a while now. Enjoy your trip as well. I've been to Wyoming a number of times on business (this was the first "leisure" trip - the hiking kicked our behind).
  9. These are some of what I brought back from a recent trip to Yellowstone (my first back since being a youngster). I know you can take crappy pictures at Yellowstone but my keeper rate went way up on this trip. I'll save you the iconic ones of Grand Prismatic Springs and Artist Point (Old Faithful didn't come out so well). Channeling my inner Ansel Adams (but in color) - Actually this is in Grand Teton Park on your way into Yellowstone from the south.. Carrington Island - Just a dot of an island but it's not Dot Island - that's another island. I'm a big fan of interconnected waterfalls. And lastly, the most attractive view for me - Hayden Valley
  10. Could also be just down the road at Antietam, MD which would have been my first guess. I don't recall a scene like this at Gettysburg but who knows what it looked like 80 years ago.
  11. Playing around with the grand daughter and double exposures. She says she's a "zombie ghost".
