<p><a href="http://i.imgur.com/uF2sVqI.jpg">Here is an ad</a> for Haverhill's Episcope from the March/April 1998 issue of Mother Jones Magazine. As you can see, they were still made in Japan, and sold for $69.95 instead of today's (2016) price of $59.95. I ordered one today from Haverhills ( <a href="http://www.haverhills.com/cgi-bin/store.cgi?&shop=city&L=eng&P=1062">http://www.haverhills.com/cgi-bin/store.cgi?&shop=city&L=eng&P=1062</a> ), and asked customer service about the case, which they confirmed to be leatherette, not leather (in case anyone else is wondering).</p>
