  1. Good news: I got some amazing foggy sunrise pictures of horses on a hill in Georgetown, KY. Bad news: I was in a rush, late for work, and my meter was still set for ASA 100. Now I have some once in a lifetime (maybe slight exaggeration) pics that are two stops overexposed. Should I process regularly and try to bring two stops back after scanning? Should I pull one stop and take one stop out in post? Nothing I've seen suggests that I can take two stops out during development. What would you do? A valuable mistake for my learning, but I'm really hoping to save these pictures. Thanks in advance.
  2. Thanks for the responses, folks. Stephen: If either one of us invents a time machine, let's agree to advise Yashica Marketing Department to not put 35 in the name of every camera they make, rendering it almost "ungoogleable." I did check the 35 out, and it is probably on the shortlist. Also ran across a sweet deal on a 5000 while looking for it on the auction site. So your response was helpful in two ways! Tony: That comes as no surprise. I have a (probably irrational ) tendency to avoid selenium if I have a CdS alternative. But the Ministers are definitely the sleepers that you see people asking about after they get the RF bug. Chuck: Thanks, but the Minister is an uncoupled meter, so no POD issues here. Have faced them on some Electro 35 G**, and I have to +1 the "through the top/front" method. I've got a roll going through it right now, but once I'm done (16 frames of Ektar 100 and a pleasant Sunday forecast) I'll open her back up and get a little more serious about generating a schematic and troubleshooting. Will share.
  3. A bargain Electro 35 GSN has turned me on to Yashica RFs. I've also gotten a GT, a Lynx 14, and a Minister D. I've finished a roll in the Lynx, but haven't developed yet. The GSN and GT lives up to their reputation/hype. However, the Minister D was AMAZING. Super sharp and contrasty. Plus a little smaller than the others! Now I usually meter with a handheld, but the Minister D is so much a favorite that I want to get it to 100%, and a non functioning LM is the only tginger wrong. Problem is, I can't find anything beyond the users manual. No repair manual. Not even light meter related repair threads or sites. I've cleaned the battery compartment and all the wires look to be good. A few continuity checks didn't show any problems. I'm just a little confused by the 3 wires behind the CdS cell. Also, it appears that the camera has a positive common? Can anyone help me out with repair manual, schematics, or advice? Thanks in advance.
  4. All, Hoping to get some advice and insight on the Yashica Electro 35 GSN shutter/metering system. I have run a roll of film through my camera, and it is fully functional. Exposure and focus are good. Red light comes on when I intentionally overexpose, but the yellow light has never come on. If I point the camera at a dark target, I can hear the shutter speed take seconds, so it is metering accurately. I just can't get the indicator. Downloaded the repair manual. It's illustrated with a GT (I believe), and I just could not figure out how to get the front plate off after removing the leatherette and four screws. What I did see of the contacts and switch mechanism looked corrosion free. Hit it with some contact cleaner and compressed air just to be safe. Reassembled, no joy. The POD appears to have been replaced. It is about 2mm thick and does not look old or brittle. From what I've read, it seems that the red light contacts are "above" thebyellow, which is above the shutter release. If I get red early, and get shutter release at full stroke, is it possible that pad width could be to blame? Is there a transport adjustment that could or should help? I love this camera, and this silly yellow light is the only thing keeping it from being 100% Ps. Yellow bulb does not show obvious signs of damage, but I have not cut it out to test. Thanks in advance.
