    Watchful - Two fire fighters keep a close eye on a controlled fire made up of Christmas trees.
    This is my first time really working with silhouette. I had a hard time exposing the fire correctly while keeping the foreground black. I'd appreciate any feedback.

    The key to sports picking a lens for sports is lens speed. High school fields and gyms are notoriously dark and unevenly lit. Getting a lens that's a 2.8 will be huge, you'll really respect the extra couple of stops of light you'll get over a 4-5.6. Id recommend the Canon 70-200 2.8 with IS. Its the benchmark in photojournalism and can go from shooting a football game to a beauty pageant without issue. Add in a teleconverter and you have great range with only minimal light loss. A 1.4x only loses one stop of light but gives you plenty of room to handle football. You can find a used version I with IS and a teleconverter in your budget easy. Sigma makes a similar lens for a fraction of the price, but I have no first hand experience with it. But really, pay for speed because it will repay you.

    <p>I'm also colorblind. As my eye doctor put it, one of the most extreme cases he's seen without degradation of vision. I have difficulty differentiating between colors and see mostly in shades. Over time I've learned to adapt, learned to recognize basic colors, and learned to use tools to my advantage.<br> <br />If you've made it this far in life without knowing you'll be fine. I'd recommend having a vision test done at your next appointment. Most offices will do the Ishihara test, which will give you a basic yes or no answer.<br> As far as photography is concerned I consider myself an advanced amateur. I've worked professionally both in a studio and in news media and have never had a problem. I do rely more on my meters and the histograms then most people do but it doesn't even slow me down. </p>
