1.
Without wishing to get too deep into the film lens v digital lens argument, I have found that a lot of the old film lenses work fine with even the latest DSLRs. My favourite 35mm f2 that I bought for my EOS 1 back in the early 1990s gives sharp images with my 1DX as does the 20-35 f2.8 L zoom. They are both a lot cheaper than the alternatives that you are talking about and will work fine on a full frame camera, crop sensor cameras are a different proposition. Not only thst, it still works well with my EOS 1!!

 2.
I've not come across this problem with my 3 but my immediate thought was that this was somehow connected to the eye focus system. Is it switched off or have you tried it with it switched off?

 3.
I think the T90 is a superb camera but it needs regular use. If I don't use mine for a while I dry fire it 20 to 30 times every 4 to 6 weeks. I have had the EEE come up and I found that if you put into manual and select bulb, then hold the shutter button down so the shutter opens and before releasing the shutter pull the battery tray out the shutter will stay open. Leave it like that for about 24 hours and there has been no further appearance of EEE. Other than that buy one and enjoy it.

 4.
Just received my "Black Beauty" and what a beauty it is too. Serial number is 329152 and date code is P12 25 (December 1975) and I'm looking forward to running a film or two through it.
