Boy did I get hammered for that one! My theme was overcrowding, contrasted with the clean look of the wine glass. Glad I was able to amuse with my ineptitude.
-
thanks much -- yes I really wish I had gotten the tail in there too,
-
I am soliciting criticism from fresh critics please. I posted the wrong size
before, and people got too bogged down in complaints in order to see the
picture. If it sucks just tell me so, but it it doesn't I would love to hear that too.

This guy wanted to fight me, right there in the street. For real. I understand that
fight clubs are somewhat of a fad in Ireland, but this was a little scary. He let
me get away with just taking his picture, rather than having me kick his ass.

Muppet was pretty unwilling to pose for his Christmas picture.
You can see Zion, in the background, who has just had his turn,
having a private chuckle at the fate of his nephew. Jen, who is
holding the mad cat, is laughing right at him, brave girl that she
is! I think I caught Muppet's moment of misery quite well. What
do you think?
-
What do you think of the pose, the light, the (lack of any) shadow, and
depth-of-field? Or anything else for that matter!
Trying to learn, thanks!

Not a very constructive comment , but I just think it's a beautiful shot, i.e. pleasing to my eyes!
-
A beautiful shot! Personally I would have used the greatest depth of field and focused on the distance, rather than close to the shore, but that is just a personal preference, and maybe my eyes just ain't that great right now.
Nice one!

Beautiful sunset, nice picture. Makes me wonder if you just shouldn't chuck the wires out altogether.
-
I like the dramatic mood, looks very menacing. I wonder what that shot would look like at different ISOs, and different aperture settings. Makes me wish I had a digital. Take care,

Thank you for commenting!! Wait till I upload my pets!
I agree, coming up with a title was hard.
How 'bout "Let me out, these freaks are scaring me!" or something in that vein?
-
okay not extremely original, but again, a pretty humorous picture,
don't you agree?. I'm a sucker for cute animals and thought this one
was cool as I caught the little doggies in an almost "human" pose.
-
Please comment on the picture. It is one of my favourites
because it is not posed for. A picture of a photographer in action.
The weather was perfect, damp, cold and grey.
-
Sorry about the repeat, just wanted to see for myself.
Fire away, folks.
-
I was going to revise my comment but you guys are both right! I still think I do have a good eye, but concede I have no technical training whatsoever. Two lessons/points, see if you agree. I'd move the bottle out of the way, reduce some background noise and not use a digital camera with built-in flash for this one.
Thanks for the pointers, all.

Thanks for commenting! I revised the reply twice, but I have to learn to take it! The dark band, I thought was clouds but it can't be. better to crop it out?

Any critique welcome! thanks.

As you can see I am not a real photographer. I am a beginner but
would like to improve my skills with the help of, among other things,
constructive critcism

Call me crazy but I have my reservations about using Portra for anything other than portraits. Seems to bring out a greenish hue over everything. Sorry just my layperson's interpretation.
What do you think? Btw I love your entire portfolio, esp the Waddenzee pics, so don't think I am trying to nitpick.
I just wish we could discuss pictures on this board all the time and learn from one another's comments.
