  1. No, no coal mine, it was a road, and an airport with giant lights shooting off of it. I don't have a light table (I'm assuming for viewing slides and negatives), I've always used a projector for slides, and a clear window for comparing negative density. Like I said the first five frames were just clear, completely, with one or two black smudges. I inspected them very carefully and I see no image of anything.
  2. It was a Nikon f, I did not leave the lens cap on, and the density is consistent for the frame numbers. The shutter certainly fired, I heard it very clearly, it is a nikon f after all. hahaha. I really don't understand what happened though. These were no fast shots, they were planned. I like all suggestions, please anymore are appreciated, and would like more thoughts, any thoughts.
  3. Hello all, I was developing a roll of tmax 400 tonight, and had a bit of trouble. After my final rinse with LFN, I pulled out my negatives, and to my surprise the first 5 frames were clear. I don't have any clue what happened. I would say I am more then experienced at developing both black and white, and c41, and I've never had this problem. My leader was completely black, as usual, and my other frames looked okay, but those first five frames were clear, with just a few, very faint, "blobs" of black. I have deduced it is either the camera or the film itself. I was using a new developer I've been using called "Ilfosol 3", and a new fixer i've used only once for film before. tf4 rapid fix. I like the ilfosol 3, but it's not rodinal. Any thoughts are appreciated.
  4. Thanks for all the replies. I'll check out velox developer. does anyone happen to know what it's D-insert numbers, name is? I was just wandering about developers from this era, as I would like to try some. Does anyone happen to have the name of any of these developers used in the 30's, early 40's by printers, pro's, and at home printers? I know there has to be a lot of developers out there, as I know there was quite a bit of enlarging going on during those times, not just POP prints. Does anyone have any pdf's from kodak, or other film/developer/paper manufacturers that have developers, and formulas in it from those time periods? Also, aren't POP prints hard to save? Don't you have to overexpose, and fix?
  5. Hello all, I was just wandering what some of the paper developers would have been during these times. I had figured dektol for the end of the 40's, and possibly rodinal. A little research, came up with not very much information. Any knowledge is useful. Thanks!
