  1. Thanks for the kind words Mike. Yeah, it seems that most appeal to me in one way or the other! However, there is something dissimilar with Minoltas' ideology that is strangely attractive to me. I'm enjoying it thus far. The 7000i was always a good performer for me, always using good glass certainly helped. My Achilles heel for the moment is a Mamiya RB67 rig I'm tussling to get familiar with. Ciao!
  2. I know this thread is over three years old. Hower, I thought it a good place to start based on this threads' content. I'm kind of new and not sure if this is a good, or even approved, approach. Long story short, I've been infatuated with cameras ever since my father picked up his Zeiss Contaflex Super BC in 1966. Anyway, I could turn that story into a history book. Fast forward to today. I'm a camera nut that still loves film, apparently I'm in some mighty fine company here. Anyway I often peruse eBay and Craigslist for deals I can't refuse. Last week was good, too good really. I ended up with a Nikon F100, MB-15 data back and SB-20 flash, all like new. Also, I ended up with a Minolta 9xi, HS-9xi hand strap, BP-9xi battery and a QD-9 databack also, all like new. I guess patience is a virtue! It seems the 9xi is captivating much more attention. It's proving to be a little bit of a challeng, not having the manual for use at my fingertips. I'm managing mostly because I had a 7000i in the past that I became fairly proficient with, but it's been put away nearly 15 years. As others have stated, it's got a great feel and heft and there's no mistaking it's styling is all 90's. I am most certainly am an aquisition addict. I aquire a little of this and a little of that so to speak. After forays with Nikon, Canon, Pentax and Olympus, I guess it was time to finally start back with some Minolta items I was originally looking at some of the manual series like SRT-201, XD-11 and XE-7 but happy, I found this. Good also, because I already had a host of AF lenses along with the old 7000i. At this time I won't bore you with any lackluster results. However, I will keep things updated along with any questions I might have. If somebody happens to know where I might find the Creative Expansion Card - Custom Function Card marked with a yellow square and "Cu XI", please let me know.
  3. He's a gem! I believe he automatically switches to 1.5V battery usage. I know he changed mine. He's a hoot to deal with on the phone if he goes to voicemail and your phone transcribes.
  4. I recieved back my F-1 (n) from Ken about 6 weeks ago. I couldn't be happier. He also went over my winder "F" just to check things out. I find him to be a master of his craft, inexpensive for what you recieve and extremely quick.
  5. I received the items and they are absolutely perfect. I highly recommend. You can find him on eBay.
  6. I'm new at posting here but have been lurking for the better part of the past year. I hope I'm not breaking any rules with this posting, I'm actually just trying to help with no benefit to myself. I've become quite facinated with reverse lens macro photography using enlarger lenses. I purchased an absolutely like new El-Nikkor 80mm f/5.6. Unfotunately, I did not know the early versions had the 34.5mm filter ring unlike the later versions with the 40.5mm filter ring which I'm completely set up for. Well, much to my dismay, searching for the appropriate step up ring or combinations there of gained me a zero net result. However, I made an inquiry with a gentleman named Raf of Raf Camera through eBay. You can find him there or google rafcamera as I don't have the address at my disposal while writting this. That being said, he offers 34.5mm step up rings from 49mm through 77mm. I have two on the way, a 34.5 to 52mm and a 34.5mm to 55mm. I hope that this may help some in search of such items, it has me. While I could have sent the old chrome ring 80mm 5.6 back according to the gracious seller, I decided to keep it and hopefully put it to good use. It was just to darn good looking, in perfect condition and of craftsmanship that I did not want to send it baxk. Hope that I'm not just awe struck. Best of luck to anyone needing these. As I said I can't speak to the quality as they have not yet arrived. They were priced in the low twenty range each but, for what I consider a specialty type item, I can't complain. They are all of new manufacture from a country other than the U.S.. I believe it's Belarus if I'm not mistaken or if it makes a difference. Cheers, Jay
