The beads remind me of a Mala- beads used in Yogic practice. So perhaps the intent of the subject is closer to 'with spiritual practice things are more clear, while without it, things are foggy and muddled'. William-  I also like very much the minimalist approach to this photo.  I've been working in that mode for a few years now.  And I recognize that the slight slant to the clouds may have been un avoidable.  If you had taken 2 steps to the left, so your camera was straight-on to the waves, than the log would have dramatically changed its shape.  The horizon is flat, so I'll say 'nicely seen '.
