I use my negative scanner and am happy with the results. Sure, it's tedious work, but then, I don't scan every negative I own.
I find old colour negatives, like 20 years old and more, often have a unique, and pleasing, colour cast that gets lost totally if you just scan the print that was made from the negative back when the picture was first taken. I call it "the old film negative effect". Sure, the same effect can be reproduced using photoshop, but to me it's just not the same. And I can usually spot the difference.
Anyway, I use my scanner for negatives, I like it, I will continue to use it, and other people may have different opinions and different preferences, and that's fine, that's what makes the world go around and that what makes my work different from theirs. That's what it's all about. Be yourself, do it your way, which ever way that might be.
