Robert,
Thanks for taking the time to post these samples. I have wet mounted on a 9000 also, and as your samples show the really big difference is in the detailed parts of the images. Makes shooting medium format worth the trouble!

Nikon 5000 ED does a 13x19 from a 35mm scan. I have done it many times. Of coure the better the neg/chrome to start.....

Mamiya 7! The leaf shutter makes hand holding at very slow speeds possible. I just got back from a trip where I used the pano adapter in the Mamiya 7. The Velvia came out unreal. I have the 65mm, I think the 50 is probably better as the height of the negative is pretty narrow with a 65mm.
I could see a 50 150 kit being real useful for landscapes. I know you can shoot the whole 6x7 negative but I like KR64 in red rock country which is only available in 35mm.

To Eric:
I am the western Burbs too. Where is the shop? I really would rather drop my e6 off.
thanks

I have similar issues with a few raws, but they have big yellow sections. I open them and save them as a DNG with raw embedded. This seems to work.

The regular Nikon software didn't like the long negs, so I bought VueScan. All you do is scan one side change the frame offset and scan the other, then do a photomerge in Photoshop. There were some scans that didn't match due to the dynamic range, so I made 3 scans.

I have read a lot on the net about this lately. I bought a CS2 How To book, the author escapes me right now, he says to use bicubic sharper. He even says that everyone is saying to use smoother. I tried it on some large prints and I couldn't believe it. The sharper works far better. Try it yourself to see.

I use a 35 mostly with the 58 finder. I have found that the 58 finder if you just look a tiny
bit
off to the side approximates the 21mm FOV pretty well. I took test shots first to figure out
how far out the 21 really is and was surprised how close it is to the finder view.
I keep the 1.25 mag on the strap just in case for use with a Noct or 75 summilux but
rarely
use it. I do not soot too much at full wide open but f2.0 certainly. I found the Leica
auxiliary
finder to be a pain in the rear and not much more accurate than the little peeking to the
side.
I haven't tried one yet but you can a .85 finder from the bay and get the 72 finder and
attch it for wide angle work.

I don't know a lot about flash photography. If I use the Sunpak144 or the Nikon sb30 on the
Leica M7 or M6
TTL, do I set lens at either of the 2 or 4 (Nikon) auto flash f stops and the camera on the
synch speed? I do understand I may need to adjust the flash for certain instances like fill
flash or more natural looking photos. Is the way to do this by adjusting the ISO for a higher
number so as to lower the output?
thanks in advance!

I have the .58 finder M7 and 21mm ASPH. I use it without the finder all the time. I have the
21-24-28 finder and it doesn't seem to approximate the FOV any better than looking just a
wee bit around the camera viewfinder.

Nice shots Trevor BTW. Are there any manual aperture or focus controls on the Natura S?
And is it noisy to use?
thanks

Thank you to all!! I am back and had a great trip. What a great country. We drove 1600km in 4 days. I can't wait to go back.
Warm regards,

Hello,
I am going to Germany for just a few short days. Landing in Frankfurt, then driving to
Rothenburg, Rhine River, Leipzig. I am taking my Minolta a200 and my XPAN with Velvia. If
anybody can give me a few pointers or places that are a must see in these areas, I would
aprreciate it.
thanks

Does the 135 STF have a ring on the lens to defocus like the Nikons? Or is its footprint a
clean OOF region?
thanks
Brian

How is the 135 STF? I would like a 135ish for indoor kid sports. In my Canon days the
135 L was pretty good. I am thinking I could skip the 135 and get a 200 if the 135 was
not up to it. I have only seen a few web pics with the 200 and 135. Can anyone chime in
with experiences with either lens?
thanks again!!

Thanks guys. That really helps. I also bought a few other lenses, the 28mm f2.0, the 24
-85 and a Sigma 500mm from KEH. Is the 28 ok?
What I have noticed about the Minolta lenses is they have nice bokeh and pop like the
Leica. We shall see.

Hello,
I just bought an 85mm f1.4 used. But it is not the G, are there any differences?
thanks

You should download some and print them at 4x6. You would be surprised how little
noise you can see. I took a shot with my Fuji 602 at ISO 1600 and printed 4x6, the shot
was pretty well exposed but the grain, even without neat image or a noise reducer was not
intrusive.

A Canon Elan 7 quieter than an M7? Wow. I have both and no way is my Canon quieter.
My Leica ticks the Canon flaps. Is this with mirror lock up maybe?
thanks

Hello All,
I have been testing an Oly FL20 flash with my M7. I used 160 Fuji print film and went into
a reasonably dark room. I am not well versed in flash photography and have tried to read
the archives but I think I need some help. I have set the flash on manual, set the shutter
speed between 1/500 and 1/60 and changed the aperture from f4.5 to f8. All of the pics
come out ok. When I set the flash on Auto and use f4.5 most shots come out. Some do
some don't.
I guess my question is if I use manual on the flash and set the aperture within the range of
the flash, and set the shutter speed on 1/250 or 1/125 will my shots comes out? OR is it
that the film has so much latitude that the pics just come out ok?
If I set the camera on AE and the flash on Auto the pics are underexposed and or the AE
pics a slow shutter speed and the camera shake ruins the pic.
Sorry for basic questions but I am still basic.
thank you all,
Brian

Thanks Dean. Yes I do love my Leicas. Trouble is sometimes I don't feel like doing the
film dance, shoot wait for the roll, develop, print scant he good ones.....I will hang onto a
little l glass.
I really want to use the Caplio for when I go trail running or traveling. A good macro and
28 eq would be sweet.
thank you again,
Brian

Thanks Dean. I noticed some of the shots on the web are soft. How is your camera?

<p>I just saw Picasa for mac is available. I run the win version and it is fast and provides some very good basic editing tools. I have over 80k photos on my raid drive and it finds a picture instantaneoulsy.<br>
