What's the story behind the Thud?

A lovely fresh view of a much photographed place.

That is a spitting image of Dungeness!  It brings back many fond memories...

There is going to be some weather coming in.

I was over in the tri-cities and drove back to Seattle through the gorge. I was the last car up I-5 before they closed the bridge. I remember it being dark at noon in tri-cities. The purple lightening in the ash cloud was spectacular.

I was there on May 18 when she blew her top... how things have changed and how quickly.

Dieter, I do enjoy your work. Most of the time it is very, very good. But every once in a while it is just off the charts. This is one of those times!

Are you familiar with the work of Elliot Porter? If not, you should look him up. This shot reminds me of one of his photographs of many years ago, though he had more color in it, but I like this every bit as much... a fine piece of work.

I do like this. I is something more than just the ordinary competent photograph -- and that is very refreshing. I can almost "hear" this image. I really like that.

I have roughly 23,000 images from the last cruise. That is probably too many to post.

They just upgraded the CIWS aboard Decatur to the 5000 rpm. However, the package varies flight to flight. 

Yes., he is on the deck above. On this type of DDG (without the hanger) the flight deck does not have a lot of room. The visibility for the flight crew is better from the position here. I have a lot of night VERTREP shots. These are all from the Persian Gulf.

It helps when the family boat is a DDG.

Thanks Joao. Sorry about taking so long to post. I don't visit all that often.

I think it would be fun to have all of us on photo.net send in our shots taken from this bridge to see how many of us have been inspired by this scene. This is a one of the loveliest images of this lovely spot.

I do really like you work! It is so refreshing and creative. It breaks the mold of the staid approach to photography and takes advantage of the potential made available in the digital art of photo-graphics.
