Hi Lannie,

A rich view of this very attractive waterway. Nice shot my friend.

Nikon has always done a very good job in rendering various shades of blue. Their early lens designs moving forward have favored the blue end of the spectrum. The sensors used on many modern cameras also do a very good job with  the blue tones. The enhancements to boost the "blue" response to the sensor device had been made after the year 2000.

I have used curves and levels here, and so the hue and contrast havebeen affected, among other things. The sky was blue, however, and sothe hue (though not the color intensity) is pretty close to beingaccurate. Comments welcome.

Deepening of the blue by adjusting curves and levels was probably not a great idea, but I wanted to see what the overall effect would be.

Are you familiar with the work of Elliot Porter? If not, you should look him up. This shot reminds me of one of his photographs of many years ago, though he had more color in it, but I like this every bit as much... a fine piece of work.

Thank you, Virginia. I love Eliot Porter's work, but I never imagined that I would be compared to him to any degree, ever.

 

I shall try to find the picture that you are talking about.  It might be "Pool in a Brook."
