I think that the close-up by removing my immediate identification of the face as "an elephant" gets me to look more closely at the face as an individual. It then acheives 'personality.' The mud particularly on the tusks helps. What is most striking to me are the eyes, more important in the close-up. They seem to be questioning the photographer/viewer about what we are up to looking at him/her. emb

I agree that this is a beautiful image, however I think think that the wall and ceiling with their slight glow enhance my experience by creating the feeling that the picture was taken from within a dark, even gloomy place. emb

I often get annoyed at photos of graffiti because they don't add anything photographic to the image already there. Your picture seems subtly much better than that. Of course the art students' work is wonderful, but your camera work enhances the image. The grill work and especially the little shadows at the corners of the grills makes this a picture about the place and not just a picture of a picture. emb

A beautiful picture. I might call it 'dreaming.'

You certainly captured his 'far away' look. What are kids thinking at moments like that? emb

I agree with the others. It is great to have caught it on the stripes. It gives a sense of motion and scale that is hard to catch.

this is a lot of fun. It seems that the woman is enjoying herself and thinking, "I can wear pearls too and I don't have to vamp!" My thought in any case. ed

A wonderfully intimate shot. I can almost smell the spices. emb

I've seen the bubbles in Central Park, so I am impressed by what a fine image you made. emb

I love the geometry of the bikes. In BW the people seem almost part of the ensemble. together! ed

I think your use of light and shadow as well as texture make for a very visually appealing image. the contrast between the manikin and the man suggests the contrasts of the city. the overall ambiguity of the image invites the viewer's imagination to participate. thanks. emb

I enjoy pictures of people who are alone and perhaps lonely. This one is special. A pair of such people, leaving their faces and feelings to the viewer's imagination is wonderful. Your use of black and white sharpens the effect. The angle of the shot completes the abstraction of aloneness. thanks. emb

Thanks. I just got lucky sitting in my canoe one beautiful morning.

beautiful and funny at the same time. ed

I prefer the vertical format. The woman is a vertical element and with the windows intact there is a rhythm of the vertical elements. There is enough of the wall stretching from her to let the viewer imagine her contemplating some future. It would be nice if the dog were more legible, but since the viewer is so drawn to the setting sun on her face it is not necessary and might be a distraction. Thanks for posing the question. It got me thinking. emb

To me it looks as though the two men sitting close to one another have been having a conversation and one is waiting for the response of the other. It is a wonderful picture that gets the viewer imaging such things. thanks. emb

The clarity with which you have captured his hand and head [especially his hair) convey the sense of a man with much life experience. The composition leaves the viewer to imagine a lot, which I like very much. Beautiful. emb

I find that this images conveys the complexity of our bladerunner world. the figure seeming to come from another time, the blaze or red and the reflections of the 21st century. Beautiful. I will make it a favorite.

Quite wonderful. A photograph that seems to no longer be a photograph. It reminds me of minimalist drawings/paintings. say Agnes Martin. emb
