    Monk @ Ginza

I like the way you capture the contrast between his meditative state, as you describe, and the hustle and bustle of the others, more clearly contrasted because it is in the cross walk.

    Brooklyn Reflection

I like this image a lot. It presents something that I know well and usually just glance at, and conveys the majesty of the structure. The angle of the shot, the jangle of the reflection and the absence of color all contribute to making this a stunning image.

Thanks Marie. I was walking my bike to put air in its tires…

    man on the street

The eyes are the window to the soul, they say. My eye was caught by this man's eye. That and his life-worn expression invite my compassion. This is a wonderful picture. I'm curious as to how you managed to capture such an intimate view.

I agree that leaving the arm in is a good idea. It works with the fact that the bicycle is leaving the frame and the rider almost popping out from the 'screen.' It does have a cinematic quality that I don't see very often. Thanks

I enjoyed this picture. These guys are such great subjects and you got him in a way that suggests a lot about what kind of guy he is. I thought you might enjoy one of my pictures of this guy's 'brother' at: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18213065

    Rainy day

Very evocative. It draws me in and leaves imagining the figures. As a Saul Leiter fan I was especially taken by the red umbrella on the edge of a classic b/w composition.

Stunning, I don't know what else to say.

I have enjoyed your series from Marrakech. Having tried to take pictures there myself, I can appreciate what a fine set of pictures you have created. This picture reminded me of one of mine that I include in a series on Fathers. If you have an interest you can see it at http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=18210616

Capturing the mottled shadow with precision, having arced patterns of light across her face and in the background ... A beautiful effect.

    Patience

Dogs say so many things to us with their posture. I think you've captured patience perfectly.

I can't help wondering what she is thinking. A very moving portrait.

    AGUACATERO

I like taking pictures of people working, but it is difficult to capture something of their feelings about working. While this man's expression may have something to do with seeing you taking his picture, to me his expression shows something of his feelings about his work. Thanks for a memorable image.

    'The Gathering'

People often use the word capture in describing photos, when there doesn't seem to have much of a 'capture.' This image is a great capture. I can practically feel myself at the table having fun. Sometimes people use b/w for no reason. In this photo, while I would like to see their faces in color, I'm glad that my attention is not distracted by the unfinished meal. all the best, ed

Thanks, Todd. Actually there is a print hanging in my daughter's dining room. What could be better.

    NO ADMITTANCE

Marvelous effect. It looks like a painting to me. I would love to see a print.

    Avignon, France

I find myself distracted from the lonely figure by the figures in the window. Otherwise it is quite evocative.

    Umbrellas

The rhythm of the umbrellas and the windows without the distraction of color creates a 'dynamism' that I find very appealing.

    Splotch

Wonderful mix of abstraction and humor.

    i see

I would agree with the above comment and add that the contrast creates 'dynamism' and draws my eye in.
