I find the composition surprisingly effective, thanks for sharing.

    Untitled

The text makes this a conceptual piece as well as visual. Clearly the intent is art as propaganda and its message is clear, if a trifle adolescent (but here that may not be a liability). Personally I do not care for this image but it works well in terms of its apparent intent and I would rate it a fairly high rating.. As it is a conceptual work it seems reasonable to comment on that content. It is difficult for most to separate the person from their work. If one loves a person's work it is hard not to transfer that feeling to the person regardless of their transgressions. For example Wagner was nasty little anti-Semitic pamphleteer . But his evil is (mostly) forgotten and irrelevant to the appreciation of his music (not that I consider Bowie much more than a commercially driven craft's person). In any case as a species we are a mixed lot.

Beautiful composition, and the feeling of the tension between its industrial subject and the elegance of its expression makes it an aesthetically compelling experience for me.

  12.
B&H has the 11-20mm "on sale" for $424. I had been conflicted between the AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED and the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X116 Pro DX. But this thread and a number of reviews and posts and the extra top end convinced me. Mine, the 11-20mm is on order.

Thanks to all and especially Rodeo Joe.

  14.
My thanks for all the posts and good ideas for dealing with moisture. There may be a subtext here that I am misinformed as to the value of weather “resistance” rating for lenses and cameras but from the Tokina 11-16mm AT-X 116 PRO DX II specs page: “** Please note, the Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX lens itself is not waterproof or water resistant”. Otherwise it would be my choice for a UWA zoom.

Do people here shoot in rainforests (in the rainy season) with non weather “resistant” lenses and without problems?

Again thanks.
