Wow! Can you make a list, which lenses are on your next test run? Is there also a new Zeiss S-mount Sonnar T' 50mm/1.5 on the table? I have used it about a week and some photos are here:<br>
-
I can't comment about Contessa 35, but my Zeiss-Opton T Sonnar 50/1.5 shots taken with Contax IIa are here:<br>
<br>
<br>
They were mostly shot at f/1.5 or f/2, if I remember correct.

Thanks for link. I just picked one of those black lacquer T2 version from Ffordes UK in E++ condition. Can't wait when I'm finished my first roll of Tri-X with it!
-
This is maybe OT, but do you know, is the black lacquered T2 a some kind of special model? I don't mean a titanium black T2 model, which is actually dark gunmetal grey, but a real deep black one.

I haven't noticed any focus shift either. But sometimes it's a bit tricky to focus at close distance with rf-version Rollei Sonnar 40mm/2.8 LTM/M on Rollei 35RF, because the lens can be focused to 70cm but the Rollei 35RF body can only handle 80cm.<br><br>
Here are the shots, which I have took with that lens:<br>

These were taken at close distance:<br>

I forgot to mention, that thread has also current info (messages #: 11 - 12) from two C-Sonnar 50/1.5 users:<br>
<br>
<br>
On the first one the user has an original ZM C-Sonnar optimized for f/2.8 and on the second one a newer version, which is optimized or calibrated for f/1.5.

Have you searched Zeiss Ikon ZM forum on RFF:<br>

I have a Nikon S-mount version of it with Bessa R2S body. Some sample shots are at my Flickr-page <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jsuominen/sets/72157601634391881/">http://www.flickr.com/photos/jsuominen/sets/72157601634391881/</a>

I have only shot CV Ultron 28/1.9 with Leica M2 or Bessa T. I think it's quite good even wide open. Here are my shots with it <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/jsuominen/tags/ultron28mm19/">http://www.flickr.com/photos/jsuominen/tags/ultron28mm19/</a>. Sorry, no experience with Leica M8 or Summicron-M 28/2 lens.

By the way, one Dutch webshop sold out all of their Spur Orthopan UR testkits after that article was published! Well, it was quite a small stock anyway and I managed to order their last kit - other went backorder. :) The dealer wrote me that they have just received many Spur Orthopan UR orders and it was quite strange...

Shot with Leica M2 + CV Nokton 50mm/1.5 lens</center>

Rich, your pictures are very good and Sonnar 50/1.5 seems to be an excellent lens. I hope that my own Contax IIa with Sonnar 50/1.5 will arrive soon, so I can compare it to a modern CV Nokton 50/1.5 lens.
By the way, what filter size the classic Sonnar 50/1.5 uses? Is it 39mm, 43mm or 46mm? CV Nokton 50/1.5 has 52mm filter size.

It seems to work just fine with my Firefox (ver. 1.5.0.6) in my WinME machine. I haven't checked it yet with my Linux or WinXP machines.

It seems that Nikon SP 2005 rangefinder (a reproduction of the original 1957 Nikon SP) has cloth shutter curtains, too. But they can be "replaced with the indestructible titanium shutter curtains from the Nikon F", if the cloth shutter curtains ever give way according to Stephen Gandy (http://www.cameraquest.com/nrfblsp2005.htm). Well, maybe the SP will become a bit louder that way, too.
-
Jay: Do you have any photos of your test, which you want to share with us? It would be interesting to see your results.

Maybe the sound is a bit noisy, because Bessa has a metal shutter curtains and the camera back is not so thick and solid, I think. I have Bessa T and sometimes it sounds noisyer than my Olympus OM-2n or OM-4 with cloth shutters.

Raid> M-mount and S-mount versions of new Zeiss Sonnar 50/1.5 lens are equal optically. Just the focusing system and looks of the lens is different.
Lutz> I was just curious, if Raid had also that lens on his test-list, nothing else. I'm happy with my own Sonnar and other 50mm lenses, too. I'm not looking obsessively potential alternatives; comparative shooting is just fun occasionally. :) I could have just kept on shooting with my second 50mm lens: Summicron-M 50/2, which I bough new in 1981 and I still have it. My first one was Canon FD 50/1.8, which I bought back in 1976...
