1.
Thanks for info, folks.
I actually have original manual too. My light meter has been lost in the mail. (Found an old Gosser Pilot meter thats on way in mail to replace an analog sekonic). So been practicing sunny 16 and experimenting. Have been shooting at ISO setting of 1000 on camera for the black and white. The color film should be easier as its ISO 100. Have seen posts of some that use the exposure up or down depending on how they shoot for the instant film.
I have been used to shooting wide open on 35mm and Digital film cameras- now getting used to stopping down on the medium format. I must say- its very nice to shoot through the square viewinder :) Very different from live view and through an electronic VF. Just wish I could get a larger use of the film than the square crop- but its different.
Anyone use the flash on the 503? One seller selling the Hassy flash kit at a good price.

 2.
So I finally got my Hasselblad 503 cx (now named Elsa, my new 26 yo Swedish love) and some Film Backs and the Hasselblad 100 Polaroid Instant Film Back.

(Elsa with Cecilia camera strap with B&W film inside).
I am trying the Fujifilm FP-3000B Black & White. Waiting to take photos!
Sorry if dumb question- but what ISO setting do I use on the camera for the FP-3000B? Camera only goes up to to 1000.

 11.
I also have a small ThinkTank retro 5 that I have been using for my Fuji X-Pro1 and Sony A7. Didnt think about the bigger size models. I do love that they have so many little options with the inserts.

 13.
Many thanks for the info.
I had thought of the Hadley Pro, as <a href=" Thomas's review of the bag showed how he could use it for a Hasselblad and lens- (vertically), but noted that it was snug. I forgot to add i also wanted the possibility of putting in a macbook air or ipad in back- hence I was looking at this size. I have experienced places where they say no camera allowed- or camera bags type- so my looking for a messenger type bag to hide the camera away and something as compact as possible.
I dont regret the Hassy- but maybe I should have got a more compact TLR! :)

 14.
I need a second camera bag that can also hold a Hasselblad 503 with 80F2.8 and the 150F4. My Billingham Small can't cut it. :)
Have narrowed down to Billingham Hadley Pro or the ONA Street. Would the Brixton also work? I would prefer the most compact bag, the Street is a tad bigger than the Hadley, that I know many have used for the Hasselblad.
There is always the Thinktank retro 7, but need something less casual. (Why can't they offer the leather on the whole bag and not just the flap?)
Would the leather ONA bags (while heavier), offer more protection for the Hassy. Has anyone used the ONA bags for the V series?

 15.
Its gorgeous! Yeah- if I was getting any DB it would be the CFV50c! Makes one just want to place the Hassy out eh? :) I see prices are reduced- but still high. Leica just came out with a Mirrorless camera too- lol. (With their relationship with Sony, I was hoping that the DBs may be reduced.)
I just brought an beautiful mint black Canonet QL17- so nice to go back to basics. But my dreams will be of the sexy lines of the Hasselblad CFV50c digital bank. :)

 16.
Thank you for the info Edward and your experiences on the 120.
I had ordered a 150/4 that was at a good price close to my camera age before I saw the post!
Someone said that i could try extension tubes- but I hate the hassle of using them. May see how the 150 is and think about the 120. The lens junkie that I am- I may need to get one! sigh, now this will delay my FF lens purchases.

 17.
Yes- it was early morning when I posted this.
It was to see more if it could be used to sort of have an advance preview of how shot may look before putting in the Film back. So like a live view preview. But I think I'll stick with experimenting with film and the thrill of seeing image when it first comes out. Been spoilt by using a digital camera- where we always want to preview photo!
Yes- $ 370 is money that could be spent on goodies for 503 :) Have to get my CZ 150mm F4 lens still!

 18.
Hi Ivan, Thanks for the info. I have been using rangefinders so I am looking forward to the Hassy experience of looking down into the finder. Nice photograph with the 100mm. I thought that was to close to the 80mm- so I think I will get the 150mm as the second lens.
Its a lovely camera- I cant wait to get it. Read the manual from cover to cover now!
best wishes,
S

 19.
Thanks for this post. I just got a CX for myself and I understand from seller that it has the same matt screen with the cross.
I am looking to get an extra screen with the grid and splitfocus to be able to shoot easier . :)
Ivan- have you had any issues with the camera apart from focusing? I got a 1989 model with the 80mmF2.8.
Trying to decide on a longer lens- seem to have narrowed down to the 150mm F4.
Waiting for my new swedish gf to come in the mail :)

 20.
I have been looking at digital back options for a Hasselblad V series as I recently purchased a 503 CX.
So found the Hasselnuts option using an iphone as Digital back.
Yes, i know quality may not be great and just a novelty- but with careful calibration / use and maybe the newer iPhones- would it provide decent images? Has anyone used this?
Haven't found many people giving real experiences. Few reviews on following:-
2013 Peta Pixel article; 2014 CT Digital Photography article and post at Dubious Photo.
Available on Amazon.

 21.
I got a Hasselblad 503 CX (1989 model) with a CZ 80mm CF T F2.8 (1989 model with 60 bayonet). :)
Been reading up, but had some questions I wanted to make sure, as I am ordering online and cannot look at things and try them out.
Lens compatability
I am looking for a CZ 150mm F4 to use for portraits. I know that the V series can use any lenses with the leaf shutter, but are there any compatibility issues with using a lens that is newer?
For example there is a nice condition 1992 150mm F4 lens - but one description says it works for the 500 series and then later in the details indicates 200 / 2000 focal plane as shutter.
Should I confine looking for lens for the same year as the camera or range 1987-1989? I understand that the newer lenses are easier to focus meaning the ring is easier to grip etc.
Lens choice
I have read that the 120mm lens is better for macro and that the 150mm is the best for portraits. Is the 250mm any good? Seen a few on sale. Thats around a 137mm in 35mm i guess. Haven't seen many write about the 250.
Shutter
I need a cable release for use on tripod etc. I have read up that some have used mechanical threaded cables for range finder / vintage cameras for Hassy 500 CM models. Is the 503 CX the same standard? So any threaded cable would work?

Many thanks. (Sorry that the question on 2 things became a few questions.)

 22.
Still looking for a TLR. Yes- the Rollei's are beautiful. :)
But i decided to go back to what I have used in a College Photography class.
I got a Hasselblad 503 cx :).
yeah it's not so much for street... but it makes me grin from ear to ear. Now looking for a good Polaroid back and eventually a Digital back (course I will have to stop buying any gear for years to save up!). I thought with the new digital backs around 50MP now - the old 16MP backs would be cheaper- no way!

 23.
Hi, I found out that one of the large camera retailers here may process 120 film still. :) So hopeful- but may end up developing film myself. The US sites seem to be more adapt to foreign billing and shipping addresses. UK ones not so much. Have to explore the Tokyo options. I have ordered lots of film cameras and bits from Japan and been very happy. They maintain stuff well. I got am Fujifilm X-Pro1 that the seller said its used and not mint- but it was clean and what many would say was mint! :) So getting back into 6x6 and am looking at a TLR camera for street. I guess i should look at other forum part. I guess Yashica and Rolleiflex are ones that would be most recommended?
